More than 40 parked cars have had their windows smashed in with a crowbar before the 28-year-old suspect was arrested.
Vehicles stationed along Moseley Road in Balsall Heath, Birmingham, had their windscreens, boot and side windows broken at around 10am on Friday.
After concerned members of the public reported a man damaging cars with a metal bar to the police, officers arrived at the scene and arrested an individual on suspicion of causing criminal damage and possession of an offensive weapon.
Video footage shared on social media showed a man wielding a crowbar hitting vehicles and shattering windows - as alarms wailed repeatedly.
Another video claimed 45 vehicles had been damaged by the suspect while other footage filmed after the attack showed smashed cars lining the street with the caption: 'Who do you think did this?
'Breaking every parked car's windows. Things are just getting out of hand. Stay safe.'
It is not yet known why the individual carried out the attack on the vehicles.
West Midlands Police said: 'We were called to reports of a man damaging numerous vehicles on Moseley Road, Birmingham, at around 10am this morning.

'Officers attended and arrested a 28-year-old man on suspicion of causing criminal damage.
'A crowbar was also recovered, and he was further arrested for possession of an offensive weapon.'
A spokesperson added: 'We understand the concern with this incident.
