A calming beach day for Florida sunseekers was abruptly interrupted when a man whipped out a drill after he was told he could not use the private community's beach chairs.
Yacov Jacques Levi, 50, was arrested on Wednesday afternoon after he allegedly charged at a man who simply told him he could not sit on a chair intended for residents at the Solimar condominiums in Surfside, according to an arrest report filed in Miami-Dade County. He then got naked.
Abrahan Soto told Surfside Police that Levi became 'irate' after he was told he could not sit on one of the chairs.
Levi then allegedly attempted to hit Soto and rushed at him with a drill while muttering, 'I'm going to kill you,' according to the report. Multiple witnesses told police that they ran away after seeing Levi wielding a drill.
Police said when they arrived on the beach, Levi was refusing to comply and allegedly began to roll on the ground, kicking a police officer when they attempted to handcuff him.
Body camera footage obtained by local NBC News affiliate, WPLG, revealed officers pointing weapons at Levi as he sat shirtless on a beach chair.
'We have him at gunpoint,' one officer is heard saying on the police radio.
'Put your hands up, or you're going to get tased,' another officer threatened.

Levi appeared unfazed and muttered inaudibly in reaction to the officer's threats. He was eventually apprehended and charged with attempted aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, battery on a police officer and criminal mischief, according to court records.
Levi was booked into jail at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center without bond. He has not yet entered a plea in the charges against him.
Levi previously found himself in trouble during a beach trip to Surfside in 2023. On April 2, he was arrested after attempting to steal a jet ski.
An arrest report said he attempted to get on the jet ski and then pushed it toward the ocean.
Employees and onlookers tried to stop Levi before he was accused of striking one of them, according to the report.
Levi was in the ocean when police officers arrived. He refused to leave the water when asked by law enforcement and then splashed the Miami Beach Marine Patrol.

Police said he then took off his swim shorts and made 'lewd disgusting gestures' toward beachgoers, including children, according to the arrest report.
Officers added that he resisted arrest by kicking and swinging at them to avoid being handcuffed.
In 2018, Levi was also arrested for burglary and petit theft. Both cases were eventually dropped.
