A California biker was starting a new chapter of his life after proposing to his overjoyed girlfriend, only for tragedy to strike just hours later.
Noah Jacobus, 25, and his fiancée, Molly Wiseman, were riding their motorcycles to their engagement dinner when the groom-to-be lost control of the two-wheeler and fatally struck a mailbox, she told KCRA.
'We were going to announce our engagement,' she told the outlet, adding that the duo got engaged just hours before the unthinkable happened.
The couple met in January and quickly fell in love, spending every day together.
'[We were] locked at the hip from then on,' Wiseman told the outlet.
On top of his engagement, Jacobus had been making career moves and was recently offered a permanent position with the National Guard - a feat he had been chasing for months, his fiancée said.
'He was so excited about that,' she said through tears. 'It's just not fair.'
'It was just cut too short. He might have just been too good for this place, but we just didn't get enough time,' she added.

The pair met at a bike meet-up in Sacramento in January.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is investigating the crash. The agency is looking into if another vehicle was involved in the crash that took Jacobus' life on Oak Avenue in Orangevale.
It is unclear if the couple were riding the same bike or separate ones when the crash happened. CHP declined to answer when contacted by the Daily Mail due to the ongoing investigation and 'conflicting witness information.'
Jacobus worked as a fire support specialist for the National Guard. He had previously held the same position in the Army from June 2019 to December 2022, according to his LinkedIn.
His friends and family remembered the young man as a 'damn good man' who was 'very loved.'
'I miss you so much,' Wiseman wrote on Instagram, calling Jacobus the 'love of my life.'
'He was everything to me, and I miss him so much. He will never be forgotten. He was an incredible person, son, brother and fiancé. I will do everything to bring justice to the person that did this to us,' she added.
