England have had a lucky break after a pool table they had ordered for relaxation at their hotel failed to materialise.

Right on cue, an eagle-eyed FA official spotted one for sale on Facebook marketplace and quickly snapped it up for Harry Kane and the rest of the Three Lions squad.

The Three Lions were disappointed after a pre-arranged pool table failed to show up despite it being ordered prior to their arrival at their team HQ in Kansas City, Missouri.

But within hours of arriving at their £260-a-night hotel, The Inn at Meadowbank, they had chalked up a victory ahead of their 4-2 win over Croatia by bagging the table.

Lynne Brown, who lives near the England HQ, had advertised her pool table for sale as part of a house clearance and was stunned to receive a message from an FA official.

She revealed how a member of the logistics team had told her one that had been ordered had failed to arrive and 'was her one still for sale?'

Speaking to the Daily Mail from Florida where she is on holiday, Mrs Brown revealed how she had even cut the FA a deal for the pool table knocking $50 off the $750 asking price.

She added: 'Here's a sentence I never thought I'd say: 'We sold our pool table to England's World Cup team.

'We really feel we have an extra special connection to the English team. If they win the World Cup, then we know it will be down to the pool table.

'They got a great table, it's in beautiful shape.'

She continued: 'It was random. We had it listed on Facebook marketplace and I got a message asking if it was still for sale, I said it was and they came round straight away. That was not on my bingo card.

'They were so nice and they were very keen to have the table so I knocked $50 off for them, I think I cut them a good deal, they were very pleased to get it as they had been let down.

'I understand they have a table tennis table and video games but they really wanted a pool table as well and we were happy to help out.

'They came over within two hours of messaging me on Facebook Marketplace to pick it up. There were six big guys all British and they lifted it up and took it away in the back of a truck.

'We'd had that table for 20 years and had some good memories, the kids played on it and my husband and I played on it but now it just doesn't get used any more so we sold it.

'I'm telling you - there is a lot of good energy in that table and so hopefully some off it will rub off onto the England team and they will win the World Cup, that would just be great.'

When asked by the Daily Mail if she would be spending the money to go to a World Cup match, Mrs Brown joked: 'Are you kidding? The tickets are just so expensive, we will just watch it on the television.'

A source close to the FA said: 'The lads wanted a pool table, and the hotel didn't have one so they tried to get one, but it didn't come through.

'One of the logistics staff looked on Facebook Marketplace, found it, contacted the seller, and we agreed a deal for it.

'It's in the hotel foyer now and is regularly used by the players and staff along with other entrainment on offer like table tennis and board games.'

The table was delivered after the Mail on Sunday had revealed how equipment belonging to the Three Lions had been stolen by delivery drivers while en route from Florida to Kansas.

Erfan Kamal, 35, and Mustafa Salik, 40, have since been charged with receiving stolen property and if convicted at their trial, which is listed for next month, face up to seven years in jail.

Both men are currently in custody and expected to attend a bail hearing this week where the District Attorney will ask they do not go within 1000ft of the England hotel or training facility.
