Two motorcyclists have been rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries following a crash on the M25.

A man in his 30s and a man in his 40s, who were both riding motorbikes, collided with each other on the junction 12 slip road at Chertsey at around 5.45pm on Saturday.

The M25 clockwise carriageway was closed between junctions 11 and 12 for several hours while emergency services responded to the crash.

The slip road from the M25 junction 12 clockwise carriageway onto the M3 was still closed at 9.15pm on Saturday.

Surrey Police has launched an appeal for witnesses, CCTV and dashcam footage.

They are looking to trace the movements of the men prior to the collision - and would like to speak to anyone who saw a group of motorcycle riders on the M25 in the minutes beforehand.

A spokesperson for the force said: 'We are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision in Chertsey.

'Officers were called to the M25 clockwise carriageway at 5.45pm this evening (Saturday, June 13) following a collision between the riders of two motorcycles. The collision occurred on the slip road at junction 12 leading to the M3.

'A man in his 30s and a man in his 40s, both riders of the motorcycles, sustained life threatening injuries and were taken to hospital by air ambulance. Their next of kin are aware.

'The M25 clockwise carriageway was closed between junction 11 and 12 for several hours whilst emergency services responded to this incident and has since reopened.

'The slip road from the M25 junction 12 clockwise carriageway onto the M3 remains closed at this time.

'We are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who may have CCTV, dashcam, or helmet cam footage that may have captured all or part of this incident, to get in touch.

'We are particularly interested in tracing the movements of the riders prior to the collision, and would like to speak to anyone who saw a group of motorcycle riders on the M25 in the minutes beforehand.'
