An exclusion zone has been established at Perth Airport after an unattended item, understood to be a bag, was found.
The airport advised of disruptions at International Terminal 1 after the item was discovered about 4pm AWST.
It's understood the terminal went into lockdown and check-in counters were closed.
The T1 forecourt pick-up and drop-off road were also temporarily closed.
One international traveller returning to Perth said they faced a massive queue in customs.
'The line was long but was moving,' they told PerthNow.
'At perhaps 4pm the line stopped moving - zero announcements on PA, zero communication from any staff until perhaps 4.50pm.
'Then about 5pm some staff member finally came and told us there was an AFP incident out front and they're not letting us out until its cleared.'

Passengers and staff were evacuated from the check-in area.
Arriving travellers were permitted to leave using the western exit.
Australian Federal Police urged the public to avoid the area and await further advice.
It's unclear how many flights were affected by the incident.
