A Romanian man and woman have appeared in court accused of murdering two men and poisoning three others with the party drug GBL.

Adina Mihai, 30, and Madalin Dumitru, 29, both formerly of Sandway Gardens in Birmingham, are accused of killing father-of-one Gary Mouat, 37, and pensioner Malcolm King, 80.

Mr Mouat died at an address in Hazeldene Gardens, Banbury, Oxfordshire, on 13 July last year, while Mr King died at a property in Bagendon, near Cirencester, on August 21, 2024.

Mihai and Dumitru have been charged with two counts each of the charges of murder, administering poison to inflict grievous bodily harm and conspiracy to steal.

They have been charged with two counts each of the alternative charges of manslaughter and administering poison.

They also face charges relating to three other men - administering poison to inflict GBH and conspiracy to steal, and alternative counts of administering poison in each case.

These relate to three separate occasions between July 13 and July 31, 2025. The surviving victims cannot be named for legal reasons.

The pair appeared at Oxford Crown Court on Friday where they both entered not guilty pleas to all nineteen charges.

Mihai and Dumitru were assisted in court by a Romanian interpreter.

They were remanded in custody and will next appear at the same court on June 3.

The court heard that Mihai and Dumitru are alleged to have poisoned their victims with GBL, a substance with converts into the drug GHB upon being ingested.

Company director Mr Mouat is survived by his wife Louise and son Alfie.

After his death, Louise Mouat paid tribute to her husband in a statement on social media, in which she said: 'Tomorrow we say our last goodbyes on what will be the hardest day. So many happy memories but so many unfinished plans.

'You were taken too soon and we didn't get to do so many things. There's a lot less laughter in so many lives right now and home is very quiet without you.

'Alfie talks about you every day and we miss you so much. Until we meet again, which we will.'

His firm, CN Glass, said in a statement: 'We're very sad to announce that Gary passed away very suddenly over the weekend.

'This has come as a huge shock to us all.

'Gary, along with Louise, supported by their son Alfie with their mutual love of trucks, has made a huge impact on CN Glass over the few years since he took over from Trevor and Gill and he will be greatly missed.

'His legacy is the ongoing success of CN Glass and its family of employees.

'Our thoughts are with his close family at this time, and the impact that his passing will have on the wider CN Glass family.'
