A teenager who died after being attacked by a dog at a property in Essex has been pictured - with her family revealing she fell victim to a pet that 'slept on her bed'.

Jamie-Lea Biscoe, 19, was left seriously injured following the incident in the village of Leaden Roding at around 10.45pm on Friday.

Police rushed to the scene near the town of Dunmow - but she was sadly pronounced dead.

A 37-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control causing injury resulting in death.

He remains in custody - and the animal has been seized.

Relatives have paid tribute to Ms Biscoe on social media, with a loved one commenting: 'Our darling Jamie-Lea rip our girl.'

Another, Tina Wells, described the dog as a 'seven-year-old lurcher' - adding she was a 'family pet'.

Ms Wells said: 'She slept on my granddaughter's bed. It's devastating.'

Another person commented: 'Such a tragic end for the young lady.

'My deepest condolences to her family, friends and loved ones.'

Someone else said: 'This is another tragic attack and so beyond distressing for all family and friends and also to the responders.

'Any dog can bite, it's the circumstances why.'

Essex Police Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Hooper said he knew the incident would be a 'shock to the local community'.

He added: 'My thoughts, and those of us all at Essex Police, are with the loved ones of the woman who died yesterday.

'We will have officers in the area throughout today so please come and speak to them if you have any information or have any concerns.

'Experienced detectives are leading the investigation to understand exactly what has happened.'
