A man has been charged after allegedly acting erratically outside the $10million home of former nightclub owner John Ibrahim, known as the 'King of the Cross'.

A concerned resident called police after a man armed with knives and a Molotov cocktail was found lurking outside Ibrahim's Dover Heights mansion on May 24.

The man has been identified by The Sydney Morning Herald as 45-year-old Troy William Buck, also known as Troy Adam.

Buck, who is believed to be homeless, has been charged with possessing knives, explosives and housebreaking implements in public.

He also faced one count of being armed with intent to assault.

He was refused bail and is next due to face Waverley Local Court on Wednesday.

It comes as two men prepare for trial in August for a separate case in which they allegedly attempted to assassinate the businessman.

Mr Ibrahim was allegedly targeted near his mansion in Dover Heights on July 25, 2024, by two men, aged 20 and 24 at the time.

They had allegedly pointed a loaded gun at a neighbour they mistook for Ibrahim when he drove a car similar to one Ibrahim owns out of the exclusive waterfront street.

The pair allegedly tried to drive away along Old South Head Road, chased by police.

They were then arrested near the scene following a scuffle with officers and were charged with conspiracy to murder.

Mr Ibrahim has previously been yelled at through his doorbell by a tattooed man called Mohamad 'Butch' Haochar in 2019.

'John, Habib, it's me Butch... I want my f***in' money, yeah!' Haochar said in a video he posted to social media.

Following the incident, Mr Ibrahim wrote on social media that the then 37-year-old was a complete stranger, according to news.com.au.

“I have never heard of or met this buffoon till I found him yelling at my gate,” he said.

“Interestingly, when confronted he turned into my biggest fan.

“I told him to stop scaring my neighbours and to take his bad head back to wherever it came from before I slap the ink of (sic) it.”

Haochar was arrested but his case was dismissed on mental health grounds.
