Shocking footage captured two men detonating a violent explosive outside the home of a Chicago alderman as his three children slept inside.
In the very early hours of Saturday morning, two men in an SUV stepped out in front of Alderman Byron Sigcho Lopez's home around 12.45am and detonated a bomb, according to the office of the 25th ward.
Lopez's three children were sleeping inside as the explosive rattled their house and destroyed a window.
Surveillance footage captured the black vehicle pulling over as a man in shorts and a T-shirt stepped out and ignited the explosive.
The bomb left a massive cloud of smoke and caused car alarms to go off, in addition to hearing glass shatter.
Thankfully, no one was hurt.
The Chicago Police Department's Bomb and Arson Unit is investigating the incident.
Lopez's office is now asking locals to help identify the suspects and has asked anyone with knowledge to contact them at 773-523-4100.

The Alderman is currently running for Congress as an independent socialist.
Kshama Sawant, a fellow socialist and politician, called the explosion an 'act of terrorism' in an Instagram post, which his campaign page reposted.
'The political establishment and the right wing are threatened by independent socialist candidates like Byron, who is calling for an end to funding for the Israeli state’s genocide in Gaza, to abolish ICE, for universal public healthcare, and for taxes on billionaires to fund green jobs,' wrote Sawant.
'Working people and socialists must stand in solidarity against such acts of terror.'
Several users online expressed their relief that Lopez and his family were safe.
'Dear Lord!! I’m so sorry this happened, and we’re here to support you in any way possible,' one user wrote.
