Sabrina Carpenter's stalker who tried to break into her L...
Sophie Gable · 2026-06-18 · via News | Mail Online

A man accused of stalking Sabrina Carpenter and attempting to break into her Los Angeles home told a judge that he believed the pair needed to be together 'to save the world.'

William Applegate, 31, claimed at a hearing on Wednesday that he and Carpenter were part of a classified military program that required them to 'be together as soon as possible' because it´s essential to 'national and global security.'

Carpenter filed a restraining order against Applegate after he repeatedly showed up at her home.

Last month, Applegate hit a security guard and was arrested after reaching the front door, she said in a petition.

Applegate snuck through from a neighboring property and came back in the following days. Carpenter was granted a temporary restraining order in May, and Judge David Wasserman extended it this week for five years.

'I understand that it's your belief that in order to save the world, you and the petitioner must be together,' the judge told Applegate.

'I expect you to obey the order, not what you think is right, not what you think the military commands you.'

Applegate admitted to showing up at Carpenter's door multiple times, but claimed she wanted him there.

A man named William Applegate, 31, has been barred from contacting or being near Sabrina Carpenter after multiple instances where he was seen at her home. Photos from Ring Camera footage of Applegate was included in the petition for a restraining order in court documents

Carpenter said in a petition that Applegate hit a security guard and was arrested at the front door of her home

He said in a court filing that he was at Carpenter's Coachella performance in April and that she looked at him as she sang, attempting to communicate with him.

During Wednesday's court hearing, he said he was 'more than willing' to stay away from her if she told him herself. He added that he believed police and her representatives were working against him.

The restraining order obtained by the Daily Mail also listed George Smith, Carpenter's sister's boyfriend, as an additional protected person.

The order prevents Applegate from harassing Carpenter and Smith of any kind. He has also been barred from contacting them in any way.

Applegate cannot be within 100 yards of Carpenter and will not be allowed to possess firearms or ammunition, according to the restraining order.

Applegate remains under a criminal investigation, but court records do not show that charges have been filed. The Daily Mail has reached out to the LAPD for an update.

Court documents previously obtained by the Daily Mail said Applegate had caused Carpenter 'severe and ongoing emotional distress.'

He was described as having a 'dangerous' and 'delusional, irrational fixation' on the pop superstar.

Applegate claimed that he attended Sabrina Carpenter's Coachella performance and believed she sang at him in an attempt to communicate

Carpenter has appeared on multiple coveted stages, including the Grammys and Coachella. The alleged stalking began after her Coachella performance

Screenshots from Carpenter's Ring camera that were included in the filing seem to show Applegate at her front door, being confronted by her security guard, before police arrived.

'It is clear to me that his approach was deliberate, calculated and aggressive, which is deeply alarming,' Carpenter said in the filing.

'Applegate physically grabbed the lever of my front door and forcefully pushed down, actively trying to force his way inside my home without any invitation, permission, consent whatsoever. He then knocked on my door, after which he rang the doorbell.'

Applegate was 'physically removed' by a member of Carpenter's private security team but 'defiantly refused' to leave the property.

'He then fabricated the outrageous and entirely false claim that he personally knew me and that I was expecting him. This is a complete lie.'

'Shockingly, less than 24 hours after his arrest, Applegate returned to my home on May 24, 2026,' she wrote.

Carpenter claimed she was informed that Applegate 'loitered in the immediate vicinity of my residence for approximately two (2) hours' in his car.

A restraining order against Applegate prohibits him from contacting Carpenter or being within 100 yards of her or her family. Photos of him on Ring Camera footage were included in court documents for a restraining order

Carpenter's security team said they began looking into Applegate's behavior after an incident at her front door involving police. She said the incident caused 'severe and ongoing emotional distress'

She said that he sat in his reclined seat, 'watching and waiting', before driving his car closer to her driveway 'in a clear act of surveillance and harassment.'

'A private security guard assigned to my residence was forced to make direct contact with Applegate before Applegate would finally depart from in front of my property,' Carpenter added.

Applegate allegedly returned for a third time the following day and 'remained' until the police turned up.

Carpenter's security team then started investigating Applegate and found stalking behavior allegedly dating back to April 20, a month before he was first seen at her home.
