Bouygues UK has signed the main works contract and been appointed lead contractor for the Overdale Acute Hospital project in Jersey.

Part of Jersey’s New Healthcare Facilities Programme (NHFP), the hospital had been costed at £710m when a detailed planning application was submitted in 2024, BBC reports.

Bouygues was picked as preferred tenderer in November 2025 and has since worked with the NHFP team to finalise commercial terms and prepare for construction.

Overdale Acute Hospital will have an internal gross floor area of 47,500 sq m with an emergency department, six operating theatres, inpatient and critical care beds and a dedicated women’s and children’s centre.

Bouygues said it would draw on its experience in both healthcare construction and the unique logistical challenges presented by Jersey’s island location.

Philippe Bernard, Bouygues UK’s chair and chief executive, said the partnership with the Government of Jersey and the NHFP team had been “extremely collaborative and productive”.

He said the company looked forward to “working together to deliver exceptional value, support local employment and supply chain partners, and create lasting social benefits for the community throughout construction and beyond”.
