Vice Adm. Douglas Williams will serve as the next portfolio acquisition executive for strategic systems programs, according to a Navy announcement this week.
The Senate confirmed a military promotion on Tuesday for Williams, who currently works as the director for test at the Missile Defense Agency.
Williams will replace Vice Adm. Johnny Wolfe who served as the strategic systems programs director and assumed the role of interim PAE for strategic systems programs in March. Wolfe is slated to retire from active-duty service in June, after 37 years with the Navy.
Amid a Pentagon-wide acquisition model restructure, PAE SSP was established along with four other PAEs, which absorbed a large share of duties performed by Naval Sea Systems Command. PAE SSP specifically is responsible for the nuclear weapon systems on Ohio-class and Columbia-class submarines.
