The Space Force has awarded 20 other transaction authority agreements worth up to $3.2 billion to 12 companies to build a space-based missile interceptor layer for the Pentagon's Golden Dome for America program, the service announced.

The awards -- made in late 2025 and early 2026 -- span traditional defense primes and commercial space startups. Industry is tasked with demonstrating an initial capability integrated into the Golden Dome architecture by 2028, according to an April 24 Space Systems Command release.

The companies are Anduril Industries, Booz Allen Hamilton, General Dynamics Mission Systems, GITAI USA, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Quindar, Raytheon, Sci-Tec, SpaceX, True Anomaly and Turion Space Corp.

Space Systems Command, based in El Segundo, CA, said the program will develop a proliferated low-Earth-orbit constellation of interceptors "capable of boost, midcourse and glide phase engagements." The Space-Based Interceptor program office sits at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL.

"Adversary capabilities are advancing rapidly, and our acquisition strategies must move even faster to counter the growing speed and maneuverability of modern missile threats," Col. Bryon McClain, program executive officer for Space Combat Power, said in the release.

"Utilizing Other Transaction Authority agreements, we attracted both traditional and non-traditional vendors, while harnessing American innovation and ensuring continuous competition. With the commitment and collaboration of these industry partners, the Space Force will demonstrate an initial capability in 2028."
