The Pentagon's inspector general will evaluate the extent to which each of the military services have implemented counter-drone guidance that deals with the "testing, acquisition and employment" of counter unmanned aircraft systems, from Joint Interagency Task Force 401, the office announced Monday.

“We may revise the objective as the evaluation proceeds, and we will also consider suggestions from management for additional or revised objectives,” an April 20 IG memo stated.

The IG plans to conduct that evaluation at the Pentagon building but may identify additional locations during the evaluation, the memo states. An “entrance conference” is planned for May 5.

JIATF 401 was stood up last August as a replacement for the Defense Department’s former counter UAS office. Unlike the previous agency, JIATF 401 has the authority to procure systems and write requirements.
