Thanks to AI-generated code, teams might deliver software and apps at a breakneck pace. There might also be non-obvious errors within that code that could break an update.
In this episode of the InformationWeek podcast, panelists Oleksandr Paraska, CTO of Togal.AI, and Cameron Etezadi, CTO of LaunchDarkly discuss the challenge of finding errors in code that seems "close enough" and can be hard to catch.
Both Etezadi and Paraska shared that AI-generated code is moving production faster than ever before, but winnowing out wonky scripting has become another challenge -- especially when all else seems fine. Moreover, AI might feel confident that its code checks out and does not need to be fixed.
They discussed methods they use to catch where AI got close but needed some fixing, as well as how their engineers' skills have evolved with the introduction of AI coding.
The Questionable Ideas tabletop exercise returns again, with Paraska and Etezadi dealing with the goblins, gremlins and kobolds in the room who have their own ill-advised ideas on how to deal with errors in AI-generated code.
