Hulk Hogan was one of the most influential figures in pro wrestling, and Netflix’s “Hulk Hogan: Real American" aims to tell the story of his career in his own words—and through those closest to him.

I received an exclusive first look at the trailer for the four-episode docuseries, set to release on April 22. The series takes wrestling fans into the Immortal One’s childhood and his rise to become one of the industry’s icons, leading up to his untimely passing in July 2025, and features his final recorded interview.

The trailer blends archival home footage and defining moments from Hogan’s career, including his famous leg drop on Andre the Giant at WrestleMania 3 and his match with The Rock at WrestleMania 18, and opens with Hogan discussing what wrestlers should be known for.

“In wrestling, you should be remembered from all the wars you had and everything you’ve done," Hogan says. “Some people hate me, but I think people are going to know the truth—who was this guy, really?”

That reflection carries throughout the trailer. Hogan suggests his life may have been about more than wrestling, while the trailer itself raises questions about whether there was a “sinister side” to his success. Near the end, he delivers a more ominous note, admitting he doesn’t know what the final act of his story will be.

Beyond the trailer, the docuseries, produced by Words+Pictures in association with WWE, will also feature never-before-seen footage from Hogan’s career.

The series includes interviews with Bret “The Hitman” Hart, Linda Hogan, Jimmy Hart, and Kevin Nash, who, alongside Scott Hall, helped form the legendary New World Order faction in WCW.

Hogan’s career spanned from 1977 to 2012, including 12 world title reigns across WWE and WCW and back-to-back Royal Rumble wins in 1990 and 1991. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame twice, individually in 2005 and as part of the nWo in 2020, and headlined the first WrestleMania with Mr. T in 1985 against Paul Orndorff and Roddy Piper. His final WWE appearance came on January 6, 2025.
