"I don't try to be a mentor,” Soto said. “I try to be one of them. I try to make them feel like they are a part of this, they are the same as me, they have the same voice."
The comments offer insight into Soto's leadership style as he navigates the expectations that come with being the face of a franchise. At 27 years old, Soto is younger than many star players who are traditionally viewed as clubhouse mentors, even though he already owns a resume that includes six Silver Slugger Awards, multiple All-Star selections and a World Series championship.
