3 Big Questions After WrestleMania 42 Night 2

The second night of WrestleMania 42 came and went with far less controversy and more of what makes WWE’s biggest stage feel special.

It kicked off with Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi colliding, a clash between the beasts of the past and the future. With Femi picking up the win, it made for a strong start to the night.

The show closed with Roman Reigns defeating CM Punk to win the World Heavyweight Championship in a main event that didn’t rely on shenanigans or outside interference. It was just two guys delivering a quality match to cap off the weekend.

Elsewhere on the card, Penta retained the WWE Intercontinental Championship in a six-pack ladder match, and Rhea Ripley walked out with the WWE Women’s Championship.

So coming out of Night 2 of WrestleMania 42, what questions stand out heading into the fallout?

Is Brock Lesnar Actually Done?

This might sound like a ridiculous question, especially after Brock Lesnar left his gloves and boots in the ring and showed more emotion than he has in 25 years walking up the ramp. But commentary didn’t fully commit to it being the definitive end of his career.

That was a bit curious. If you were there in person, you probably took that moment as the end. But watching at home, it didn’t feel completely locked in.

So, what does that mean? Maybe WWE itself isn’t entirely sure. It’s possible Lesnar made that call on his own without formally signaling it ahead of time. Or maybe they’re holding off so he can address the fans one last time on Raw or SmackDown, something he’s rarely done throughout his career.

MORE FOR YOU

It always felt like SummerSlam in Minnesota would be the final stop, especially with a potential match against Gunther to further that “Career Killer” label. But unless something changes, that doesn’t seem to be the direction anymore.

We’ll see what happens on Raw. By all signs, that was it. But in wrestling, nothing is ever truly final until it is.

What’s Next For Oba Femi?

WWE nailed Oba Femi’s WrestleMania moment.

From the segments with Lesnar leading into the show to the way he dominated the match itself, it was all executed exactly how it needed to be. It elevated him instantly and positioned him as a larger-than-life presence who could be a centerpiece for years to come.

So now what?

He just beat, and possibly retired, one of the biggest stars of the last 25 years. The question now is how quickly WWE moves him up the card.

And not to the Intercontinental title level. We’re talking about the very top.

Femi showed he can handle a WrestleMania moment. Now it’s about building on that and not letting the momentum stall.

He called out Roman Reigns on the post-show, which immediately puts that idea on the table. Whether that happens soon is another story, especially with how often Reigns is actually around. But it’s a matchup that already feels big.

Maybe it doesn’t happen right away. But it would be a missed opportunity not to at least tease it. Getting those two face to face on the Raw after WrestleMania would go a long way in setting the tone for what’s next.

How Often Will Roman Reigns Be Around As World Heavyweight Champion?

The World Heavyweight Championship has largely been a weekly presence since it came back in 2023. That was the whole point. It existed as a second world title while Roman Reigns held the WWE Championship and wasn’t around consistently.

Now that changes.

Reigns is the World Heavyweight Champion, and it’s fair to wonder how often he’ll actually be on TV with it.

To his credit, he was around for most of the WrestleMania build after Elimination Chamber. That helped keep the feud with CM Punk front and center instead of turning into another “where is Reigns?” situation.

But now that he has a world title again, that question comes right back.

How often will he show up? And how long will he hold it, considering how long it took WWE to build someone capable of taking him down in the first place?

You’d expect him to be on Raw after WrestleMania, and that should give a clearer idea of what’s next. If WWE sets up a No. 1 contender for Backlash, that could signal a more consistent presence.

Either way, Monday should tell us a lot about how this run is going to look moving forward.
