Liv Morgan made her shocking WWE return at Survivor Series last November with her sights set on WrestleMania 42.
Just two months later, the Judgment Day star won her first-ever Royal Rumble match to secure her spot in a guaranteed world title match at WWE’s flagship PLE. Morgan ultimately chose to target Raw’s Stephanie Vaquer and the Women’s World Championship in her quest to bring gold to the Judgment Day.
At WWE WrestleMania 42 inside Allegiant Stadium, Morgan looked to secure her third world championship and cement her incredible comeback after a lengthy absence in 2025.

WWE has a new Women’s World Champion, and her name is Liv Morgan.
Capping off an interference-filled women’s championship match, The Judgment Day star defeated Vaquer with an Oblivion to capture her third world championship. Here are the key moments and takeaways from Morgan’s big victory:
When Morgan returned to WWE last fall, it was if her journey to WrestleMania glory was written in the stars.
WWE fans across the world fantasy-booked Morgan’s return run: win the 2026 Royal Rumble and capture a world title at WrestleMania 42. That’s exactly what Morgan did, too, and it couldn’t have been scripted much better, at least for Morgan, that is.
The WrestleMania feud between Vaquer and Morgan wasn’t overly exciting or complex. Vaquer, who won the title after Naomi was forced to vacate it last year, never felt like anything more than a transitional champion. She, after all, had no real feuds or magical moments as champions and simply kept it warm for Morgan. WWE will have to go back to the drawing board for Vaquer, who would benefit from some time off TV, perhaps a slight repackaging and a renewed push whenever she does return.
Now that Morgan is champion, though, what comes next?
Although Morgan is technically a heel as a member of The Judgment Day, you have to wonder just how much longer WWE can keep her in that role. At WrestleMania 42, Morgan, once again, received a hero’s welcome. Yet, even since Morgan came back last November, WWE fans have been reacting to her like a massive fan favorite for much of the past two years.
With Morgan having a high-profile role on TV for the past few years, WWE’s often hard-to-please fan base has grown enamored with the popular star. For now, she remains a heel due to her association with Judgment Day, but it’s going to take a minor miracle for WWE to keep her in that role.
Although Morgan needed to be a heel for her WrestleMania 42 rivalry with Vaquer, Judgment Day doesn’t appear to have a whole lot of gas left in the tank after Finn Balor was recently exiled from the group. Thus, WWE needs to start thinking of an exit strategy for Morgan, too.
Morgan is a bona fide star, and after her big WrestleMania moment, WWE may have no choice but to turn her babyface in the months ahead.
