Saves are not always easy to find on the waiver wire. If you can add a closer in April, they can pay significant dividends throughout the season. In addition to a closer to target heading into Week 4, let’s also highlight four hitters to consider who are still available in the majority of Yahoo leagues.

Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Targets For Week 4

Adolis Garcia, OF, Philadelphia Phillies (46% rostered)

Garcia already has two home runs through his first 12 games. Although he only hit 19 home runs last season, injuries limited him to 135 games. Prior to that, he had four straight seasons with at least 25 home runs. In three of those, he also had at least 11 stolen bases. Although his career .237 batting average isn’t anything to be excited about, he can help fantasy managers who are searching for home runs, while also providing some steals upside.

Riley O’Brien, RP, St. Louis Cardinals (46% rostered)

O’Brien was also in this column last week. At the time, he was rostered in just 29% of Yahoo leagues. Since then, he has picked up two more saves, giving him a total of three for the season. He has been dominant, too, posting a 0.55 WHIP and not allowing any earned runs. The Cardinals might not be one of the best teams in the league, but if O’Brien keeps pitching this well, he has an opportunity to finish the season with around 25 saves. Add him now while you still can.

Max Muncy, 3B, Los Angeles Dodgers (35% rostered)

Muncy has an ideal schedule for Week 4. He will start out with three games at home against the Mets. Last season, the veteran slugger had a .405 wOBA and a .319 ISO at home. On the road, he only had a .321 wOBA and a .127 ISO. His final three games of the week will be on the road, but they will be at hitter-friendly Coors Field. This is a great week to stream Muncy if you need help at third base.

Jeff McNeil, 2B, Athletics (5% rostered)

As we look for someone to add in deeper formats, McNeil has a favorable schedule. The Athletics will play seven games and all of them will be in their hitter-friendly home stadium. The left-handed hitter is also only projected to face one southpaw during the week. His career .144 ISO indicates that he isn’t someone to add for home runs, but he could provide a boost in batting average and runs scored with his favorable schedule.

Spencer Horwitz, 1B, Pittsburgh Pirates (2% rostered)

Horwitz has a good eye at the plate. He has an 11.0% walk rate and an 18.7% strikeout rate for his career. That has helped him produce a .341wOBA. Although he is only hitting .233 out of the gate, he has a 16.2% walk rate. The Pirates play seven games next week, four of which will be against a Nationals pitching staff that has the highest WHIP (1.65) in the league. Like McNeil, Horwitz has the potential to provide value in deeper formats.

Takeaway

This might be the last call to add O’Brien for saves in many leagues. In terms of hitters who can help during Week 4, Muncy and McNeil are two names to strongly consider adding.
