Jose Ramirez Can Lead Cleveland Guardians Through Tough June Schedule

MLB: MAY 27 Nationals at Guardians

Dynamic Cleveland Guardians third baseman, Jose Ramirez, has been an All Star seven times.

The switch-hitting Ramirez is the heart and soul of the Guardians.

When the weather heats up, so does Jose Ramirez. June brings hotter weather.

A native of the Dominican Republic, like most baseball players who grew up playing baseball in the warm weather of California, Florida, Arizona, and the Caribbean, Ramirez’s bat seems to come to life when temperatures climb.

The Cleveland Guardians will need the best version of Jose Ramirez to navigate a challenging June schedule. But more about that later.

At only 5-8, 190 pounds, the switch-hitting Ramirez brings constant havoc to the opposition.

Historically, Ramirez has always found a way to help his club. He is the catalyst for team that knows how to win with an emphasis on good pitching, and the dynamic offensive impact of Jose Ramirez.

This season, Ramirez is getting some offensive help from young players like Travis Bazzana, and Chase DeLauter.

Make no mistake, Ramirez is the Cleveland hitter the opposition fears the most.

With good reason.

Ramirez is a clutch performer. He wills himself to get on base, steal, and score.

If he isn’t hitting for a high batting average, he’ll get on base with a walk, steal second (and possibly third) and lead a comeback victory.

Ramirez is a special player. He has tremendous baseball instincts. He knows his capabilities on a baseball field. He knows what he has to do to make things happen.

Making things happen is what Ramirez does for the Guardians.

So far this season, Ramirez hasn’t caught fire at the plate. He has eight home runs, and 28 RBIs. But he has stolen 20 bases, giving his team a chance to score runs. He is hitting just .228.

Guardians President of baseball operations, Chris Antonetti told MLB.com, “He’s hit into some bad luck. If you look underneath the hood, there’s lots of positive indicators.”

As the calendar has turned to June, the Guardians face a grueling schedule.

Upcoming Cleveland Guardians June Schedule:

The team began June with a road trip to New York.

The Guardians lead the American League Central Division by one game, just ahead of the revamped, and surging Chicago White Sox.

In the current Yankees series, the Guardians will face:

RHP Cam Schlittler-June 2

RHP Gerrit Cole-June 3

LHP Carlos Rodon-June 4

Those three outstanding pitchers will lead a Yankees team that features All World slugger Aaron Judge, and consequential power hitters Ben Rice, and Cody Bellinger, among a cast of pesky, productive offensive stalwarts.

Without a day off after facing New York, the Guardians will head to Texas, for three games with the Rangers.

Again without a day off, the Guardians will return home to play the Yankees for three. Then, they will have a day off before hosting division rival Detroit Tigers.

The Guardians will return to the road to face the high flying Milwaukee Brewers for three, the improving Houston Astros for three, and the pesky Chicago White Sox for three.

The Guardians will close out June with a home stand that features the very tough Seattle Mariners for three, and the Texas Rangers for three.

Whew! It’s a daunting schedule.

Cleveland Guardians Superstar Jose Ramirez Is Ready:

Now 33-years, old, Ramirez has recently extended his contract to seven years, at $128M, which is a hometown advantage for Cleveland. His contract expires in 2023.

Jose Ramirez loves a challenge.

In addition to his All Star appearances, Ramirez has won six Silver Slugger Awards, including the past two seasons.

Ramirez is the Cleveland franchise leader in total plate appearances, which he set in 2025. He leads all Cleveland players in multi-home run games by a switch-hitter, with 27. He leads the franchise in home runs by a third baseman (237) intentional walks (110) and extra base hits (732.)

ESPN.com noted on April 6, 2026, that Ramirez set the franchise record for games played. At that time, he had played 1,620 games, which is a testament to Ramirez’ physical conditioning, his stamina,, and his drive to play every game.

baseball-almanac.com has logged every one of Ramirez’ 293 home runs.

Ramirez hit a career best 39 homers in 2024, when he also knocked in 118 runs.

It is not uncommon to see Ramirez shake his head when he misses a fastball he believes he should have driven to the gaps or over the fence. But without fail, he makes up for that missed opportunity.

Pitchers like to throw Ramirez a steady diet of changeups and off-speed pitches, because he is lethal against fastballs.

Ramirez makes appropriate adjustments.

The Cleveland Guardians hope to make it back to the playoffs.

Jose Ramirez can lead them there.

The amazing Jose Ramirez has the skill and will to put his Cleveland Guardians team on his back and carry them to victories in a very difficult June schedule.
