After the long, muggy days of summer, fall’s arrival feels like a jolt of energy. As temperatures cool, suddenly, the pace picks up and calendars fill with places to be and people to see. Luckily for visitors and locals, these Manhattan hotels know how to keep up. For some of the city’s poshest properties, there’s no better time to debut fresh fall looks or offer enticing autumn packages.

Here are five New York City hotel happenings to know this season.

Faena New York

When Faena New York opened last September, the High Line property made a splash with its signature maximalist style. This fall, the Argentine export’s look is complete. Tierra Santa Healing House, the hotel’s much-buzzed-about spa, debuted in June. The 17,000-square-foot space, with its sensory thermal sanctuary, rituals rooted in South American healing traditions and cutting-edge treatments, instantly caught the attention of wellness junkies.

The newly opened terrace, just off the sultry Living Room, is this fall’s must-visit spot for golden hour. Under the shade of striking red-and-white umbrellas, guests get a front-row seat to the High Line’s buzz, toasting crisp autumn days with beverages like the Emerald Garden (St-Germain, sparkling wine, green apple, lemon and cucumber), whose colors coordinate with the surrounding lush foliage.

The Beekman, a Thompson Hotel

Before architect James M. Farnsworth built the historic Temple Court building in 1883, the address that Forbes Travel Guide Recommended The Beekman, a Thompson Hotel now occupies was home to Clinton Hall, a literary hub frequented by legends such as Edgar Allan Poe.

The building sat empty for decades before GKV Architects and designer Martin Brudnizki wrote its next chapter: a multi-year renovation and interior restoration completed in 2016. Details such as the ornate nine-story sky-lit atrium, cast-iron railings and plush Old World furnishings imbue the space with a cinematic old-New York ambiance.

The hotel marks its 10th anniversary in grand fashion. The Jet Set to the Beekman package commences with a Blade helicopter flight to Pier 11 in Lower Manhattan (from eligible departure points), where a house car will then take you to the Beekman’s West Turret penthouse. A terrace cocktail reception for six, with bites from the hotel’s original opening menu, and dinner for six from chef Tom Colicchio’s culinary team complete the evening.

And if you’re still in a celebratory mood, you can also toast with special anniversary cocktails at The Bar Room and Laissez Faire.

The St. Regis New York

Five-Star The St. Regis New York has been drawing stares since 1904. After a two-year renovation wrapped this summer, it’s earning a new round of looks. The redesign of the hotel’s 171 guest rooms and 67 suites, overseen by Champalimaud Design (whose resume includes Raffles Hotel Singapore and The Beverly Hills Hotel), completes the property-wide, $100 million transformation that began in 2024 to mark the St. Regis flagship’s 120th anniversary.

Like the refreshed King Cole Bar and lobby, where crews uncovered two long-hidden Tiffany glass skylights, the guest rooms marry Gilded Age flourish with modern restraint in the form of jewel-toned velvet upholstery, marble surfaces and brass detailing inspired by the building’s exterior.

The hotel is also reviving Mahjong Mondays, the instructor-guided evening in The Drawing Room, after its success this summer. Groups of four gather for play, cocktails and canapés in a space colored after Caroline Astor’s embellished dresses and jewelry.

The Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park

You might, as the Wayne Newton song goes, recall Central Park in fall. Now picture the tree-top canopy sweeping out below you, leaves turning more vivid by the day. Five-Star The Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park, perched on Central Park South, delivers exactly that view.

Ask locals and they’ll tell you there’s no better time to be near the park than marathon day, when more than 50,000 runners cross the finish line on the first Sunday of November. The Midtown hotel will be one of the most in-demand spots on November 1, not just for its location, but for all it offers.

The APL Run & Recover Package, built in partnership with the high-performing sportswear brand, includes APL’s signature lightweight Veil running shoes, a restorative post-race massage at Four-Star La Prairie Spa, a recovery care set and a late checkout, making it perfect for runners or those weary from cheering from the sidelines.

Andaz 5th Avenue

Fall marks the start of back-to-school season, and Four-Star Andaz 5th Avenue is also hitting the books. Partnering with its neighbor across the street, The New York Public Library, the Bryant Park property offers its Lion in the Bedroom package through December 31. The Book in Bed amenity, sure to delight any literature lover, is a curated selection of three titles, handpicked by library staff. The promotion also includes a cute NYPL-stamped tote bag made for reading on the go.

And if you’re looking for a quaint spot to curl up for page turning (or people watching), the Lobby Lounge houses a cozy nook of its own, complete with a shelf of additional titles to choose from.
