CHERY is set to use Auto China 2026 as a global stage to underscore a pivotal moment in its push toward electrification, marking the evolution of its in-house hybrid technology while outlining an ambitious next chapter for international expansion, particularly in Europe.
At the Beijing auto show and the accompanying CHERY Global Partners Business Summit, the Chinese automaker will debut the latest iteration of its Chery Super Hybrid system, the product of nearly three decades of internal powertrain development. The unveiling traces a lineage that dates back to the company’s late-1990s engine program and culminates in a fifth-generation hybrid architecture that reflects sustained investment across engines, transmissions, and intelligent control systems.
The new system pairs a dedicated 1.5-liter GDI hybrid engine, rated at 44.5% thermal efficiency, with an advanced dedicated hybrid transmission capable of reaching 98.5% efficiency. Designed for a wide range of real-world conditions, the platform has been tested in environments spanning extreme desert heat to sub-zero climates, as well as on European roads, in a bid to ensure consistent performance across global markets.

That emphasis on usability is expected to define CHERY’s broader presence at the show, where it will introduce new models and technologies aimed at meeting the demands of everyday drivers, from urban commuters to long-distance travelers. The company is positioning its hybrid systems not only as a performance solution but as a means to lower ownership costs and improve reliability over time.

The event also comes as CHERY accelerates its international strategy. Earlier this month, the company confirmed the opening of its first overseas regional headquarters in Barcelona, alongside a new research and development center in Spain. The facility is intended to serve as a hub for European operations, bringing together supply chain management, regulatory compliance, finance, and public affairs while supporting the development of products tailored to regional standards.

The expansion reflects a broader localization strategy that emphasizes building a presence within key markets through investment and partnerships. CHERY now operates in 18 European countries and serves more than 100,000 customers across the region, with continued growth in both the U.K. and the European Union.
The company has also moved to deepen its global profile through partnerships, including a recent agreement with the Automobile Club de l’Ouest, the organization behind the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The collaboration signals an effort to align the brand more closely with the performance and innovation culture of international motorsport.
For CHERY, Auto China 2026 represents more than a product showcase. It is an opportunity to present a cohesive narrative around technology, scale, and long-term value, as the automaker looks to strengthen its position in an increasingly competitive global market.
