More Clues Point To One Actress As The DCU’s Wonder Woman

The DCU is a bit all over the place right now. James Gunn is shooting down some casting rumors, leaving others alone. Trades are reporting that some actors have been cast without official announcements. Promotion for this summer’s Supergirl is mixed with Man of Tomorrow news, most of it unofficial. Supposedly, DCU’s slate at CinemaCon didn’t wow anyone.

But if there’s one story that everyone seems to be trying to parse out, it’s what’s going on with a hugely important role in the DCU, who will play Wonder Woman, as she may appear in Man of Tomorrow. As time goes on, things seem to be pointing toward one actress, one who looks the part, as seen above, but you may not have heard of her: Eva de Dominici.

This all started when James Gunn forcefully rejected a list of actresses, Deadline reported were being tested for Maxima, the alien queen supposedly in Man of Tomorrow. That list was Adria Arjona, a longtime Gunn friend, and Industry’s Marisa Abela and Fallout’s Ella Purnell, the latter two Gunn saying he’d never met.

Then, a second list emerged for Maxima, Arjona was still on it, but now it contained Alien: Earth’s Sydney Chandler, Tell Me Lies’ Grace Van Patten and The Cleaning Lady’s Eva de Dominici. Gunn did not deny this list, nor additional rumors that this was a “secret” casting for Wonder Woman, a cover for that role.

Shortly after that, most of the trades reported that Adria Arjona had landed the role of Maxima in Man of Tomorrow. Also, that Sydney Chandler would play the vampire Nosferata in the animated Creature Commandos. So that leaves Van Patten and Dominici.

The latest update here is one small one: the cast trainer for Man of Tomorrow, Paolo Mascitti, followed Eva de Dominici on Instagram. But more importantly, Dominici deflected pretty oddly when asked about the idea directly:

“I can’t talk about DC, but they are going to start announcing the actors who are participating soon,” she said on an Argentine radio show (she’s from the country). That’s not even a “sure, it would be a dream to play that part!” type move that we see secretly involved actors often say. That seems a lot more direct.

None of this has resulted in anything official yet, not even the Arjona casting as Maxima, but Gunn has gone quiet after that initial, very loud denial, and we’ll see what’s announced soon. I do wonder if they’re trying to save Wonder Woman news for after this summer’s Supergirl, to try and not overshadow Kara’s first outing. It may need the help.
