Frank Sinatra's The Platinum Collection debuts on one chart in the U.K. decades after its release and returns to a second tally at the same time. Redferns

In the more than quarter-century since Frank Sinatra died, his legacy has continued to grow, and he’s become more than just a musician and actor. One of America's favorite crooners and one of the greatest vocalists of all time continues to regularly appear on charts in a number of countries to this day, and from time to time, he posthumously collects new wins for a variety of reasons.

In the United Kingdom this week, Sinatra adds a new bestseller to his discography as a fan-favorite compilation debuts on one tally and returns to another. That surge clearly indicates that the years-old set is still of great interest to a large audience.

Frank Sinatra Debuts The Platinum Collection

Sinatra's The Platinum Collection finally appears as one of the 100 bestselling releases in the U.K. as the compilation opens at No. 89 on the Official Albums Sales chart. The title did previously peak at No. 11 on the Official Albums list, which for many years was built entirely around purchases, though that is no longer the case. These days, streaming activity is also incredibly important and helps dictate where a project will land.

Frank Sinatra Scores His Fourth Sales Hit

The Platinum Collection earns Sinatra his fourth hit on the Official Albums Sales chart. All of those titles reached the ranking after his death, as the singer did not place on the tally until May 2015.

2026 Is Frank Sinatra’s Biggest Year on One Chart

Amazingly, 2026 is the first year that Sinatra has collected multiple debuts on the Official Albums Sales chart. In April, Songs for Swingin' Lovers! launched at No. 96 and then fell off the ranking entirely. As noted above, Ultimate Sinatra brought the superstar to the ranking for the first time in 2015, and its No. 58 peak remains his career high on the rundown. In 2021, Sinatra doubled his bestseller count with Nothing But the Best, which opened at No. 70 and has not been seen since.

The Platinum Collection Returns to the Physical Chart

At the same time that The Platinum Collection launches on the Official Albums Sales chart, the compilation also finds its way back to the Official Physical Albums ranking. The tallies differ slightly, as the Official Physical Albums roster looks only at purchases on CD, cassette and vinyl, while the Official Albums Sales rundown also features digital downloads. The Platinum Collection is back at No. 81 on the physical-only chart.

The Platinum Collection Returns After 22 Years

The Platinum Collection has now spent six weeks as one of the bestselling physical releases in the U.K., but it does not reach a new high point on the tally. In fact, it doesn't come close to doing so.

Sinatra's compilation debuted on the list in August 2004, and it narrowly missed out on the top 10 – just like on the Official Albums chart – as it entered at No. 11. The collection would spend a month on the tally, dropping each week and finally settling at No. 91 before disappearing entirely.

The Platinum Collection has not been seen on the Official Physical Albums chart in almost 22 years. The last time it ranked higher than it does at the moment was on the tally dated September 18, 2004, when it backtracked from No. 32 to No. 49, and in only a matter of days, it would be gone.

Frank Sinatra’s Compilation Remains a Bestseller

The Platinum Collection is the go-to set for many Sinatra lovers to listen to – especially on platforms like Spotify – but that doesn't necessarily explain its debut and comeback. It appears that a recently released triple-LP silver vinyl version of The Platinum Collection may be to thank for its resurgence.
