It’s probably because I’ve been watching Outlander and that show, as it nears its end, is currently taking place during the American Revolution, but I’ve been noticing the Wordle # is getting really close to some big, important dates. The Declaration of Independence dropped in 1776. We’re just a few days away from Wordle #1776. Kind of neat, I suppose, or kind of galling depending on how you view current affairs and the state of the Union. In any case, we have a Wordle to solve. Let’s solve it.

Now that we can create our own custom Wordles, I’m including a bonus Wordle with each daily Wordle guide. These can be 4 to 7 letters long. Hopefully this is a fun extra challenge. Click the link below to play the Wordle I hand-crafted for you.
Today’s Bonus Custom Wordle is 7 letters long.
The hint: Speaking of the Founding of this great nation, it is a core tenet.
The clue: This Wordle has a double letter.
Yesterday’s Custom Wordle Answer: MISTAKE
Wordle is a daily word puzzle game where your goal is to guess a hidden five-letter word in six tries or fewer. After each guess, the game gives feedback to help you get closer to the answer:
Use these clues to narrow down your guesses. Every day brings a new word, and everyone around the world is trying to solve the same puzzle. Some Wordlers also play Competitive Wordle against friends, family, the Wordle Bot or even against me, your humble narrator. See rules for Competitive Wordle toward the end of this post.
Okay, spoilers below! The answer is coming!

SPINE left me with a clean 100 remaining solutions and CLOUD cut that down to just two: FLOSS or GLOSS. Well, I know we have repeat Wordle answers now, but I’m 100% certain we’ve had FLOSS before so I just thought I’d go with something that *might* be new (it might have also been a Wordle, we’ve had near to 2000). My gut was right. GLOSS for the win!

Yet another tie. The Bot and I each get 1 point for guessing in three and 0 for tying. Our new April totals nudge up to:
Erik: 18 points
Wordle Bot: 15 points
“Gloss” comes from Greek glōssa (“tongue, language”), via Latin and French. It originally meant a note explaining a word, and later came to mean a comment, superficial explanation, or shine.
