In the weeks following Ozzy Osbourne’s death in the summer of 2025, both the heavy metal superstar and his band Black Sabbath dominated rock charts all around the world. Some songs and albums debuted, while many favorites returned, sometimes hitting new highs decades after their release.

As the one-year anniversary of Osbourne’s passing approaches, Black Sabbath is back on the charts in his home country of the United Kingdom. The band dropped Seventh Star – which also credits Black Sabbath member Tony Iommi in a featured role as a soloist – as part of Record Store Day 2026, and unsurprisingly, it’s become a bestseller across the Atlantic Ocean. The project even manages to enter the top 10 on one roster, helping Black Sabbath add to its already impressive list of strong sellers.

Black Sabbath’s Seventh Star Debuts at No. 7

Seventh Star launches on three rankings in the U.K., and its most impressive placement is on the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart. The newly-released set kicks off its time at No. 7.

Black Sabbath’s The Eternal Idol Marked Last Debut

Seventh Star earns Black Sabbath its first debut on the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart in almost exactly a year. The last time that the group launched any piece of music on the list of the top-selling rock, hard rock, and metal collections in the U.K. was on the chart dated April 24, 2025. At that time, The Eternal Idol appeared for the first time, and it peaked at No. 6.

Black Sabbath’s Master of Reality Among Chart Leaders

Black Sabbath is now up to 33 total appearances on the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart. 22 of those releases have spent at least one frame somewhere between Nos. 1 and 10. That roundup includes a quartet of champions, as Master of Reality, Iron Man – The Best Of, 13, and Anno Domini: 1989–1995 all took turns ruling.

Due largely to Record Store Day, the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart is inundated with debuts this week. Half of all the spaces on the 40-rung roster are occupied by arrivals, and several manage to beat Black Sabbath and Iommi.

The roster is led at the moment by Skindred, and the band launches You Got This at No. 1. Thin Lizzy’s Live in Cleveland 1976, Porcupine Tree’s We Lost the Skyline, and Pink Floyd’s Live from the Los Angeles Sports Arena debut at Nos. 3, 5, and 6, respectively.

Two comebacks, All We Know Is Falling by Paramore and Famous Monsters by Misfits, break back onto the tally and hit new highs of Nos. 2 and 4, respectively.

Black Sabbath’s Seventh Star Also Appears on Sales Charts

Seventh Star is also new to an additional pair of sales tallies in the U.K. The full-length opens at No. 75 on the Official Albums Sales chart and one space lower, at No. 76, on the Official Physical Albums ranking. Black Sabbath claims 19 career appearances on the U.K.’s list of the bestselling projects of any genre or any length and via any format, and 26 on the rundown that focuses entirely on purchases on CD, cassette, or vinyl.

Black Sabbath’s “Paranoid” Continues Chart Run

Black Sabbath claims just one charting album at the moment and just as many hit songs. While Seventh Star appears on a trio of lists, “Paranoid” only makes space on the Official Rock & Metal Singles chart. As it nears 150 weeks as one of the top-selling cuts in those styles, “Paranoid,” a former champion, improves ever so slightly from No. 27 to No. 26.
