Beau Starr, a prolific actor whose film credits included two Halloween movies and Martin Scorsese’s mob classic Goodfellas, has died.
The actor’s younger brother, Mike Starr, told TMZ that Beau Starr died on April 24 in Vancouver, Canada, of natural causes.

Beau Starr played Sheriff Ben Meeker in 1988’s Halloween 4: The Curse of Michael Myers and reprised the role of the lawman in 1989’s Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers.
In Goodfellas, Starr was featured as the father of the younger version of Henry Hill, played by Chris Serrone. The late Ray Liotta starred in the film as the older version of Hill.
Serrone wrote a tribute to his former Goodfellas co-star on Instagram on Saturday on behalf of Mike Starr.
“It is with a heavy heart I’m here to inform everyone of the very sad passing of Beau Starr. @mikestarractor asked me to make the announcement,” Serrone wrote. “Beau enjoyed a rich and meaningful life. He was a son, brother, father, grandfather, actor and NFL/CFL player. Please take a moment to help me remember a great guy.”

Born Beau William Starr Jr. on Sept. 1, 1944, in Queens, N.Y., Starr had amassed more than 130 acting credits over his screen career. Prior to acting, Starr was on the practice squad of the NFL’s New York Jets from 1966 to 1968, before he moved to play two seasons in the Canadian Football League, according to Deadline. In the CFL, Starr played for both the Montreal Alouettes and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
Beau Starr’s first screen credit came in 1979, when he played various characters in the sketch comedy series Bizarre on Canada’s CTV Television Network. Starr remained on the show through the fifth and final season of the series in 1986.
After his debut in Bizarre, Starr appeared in guest roles on dozens of notable TV shows, including T.J. Hooker, Cagney & Lacey, Three’s Company, Knight Rider, Hill Street Blues, Trapper John, M.D., Remington Steele, The A-Team, MacGyver and The Fall Guy.

Bill Triplett in the crime drama True Blue, which ran for one season on NBC. Starr also starred as Lt. Harding Welsh in the buddy comedy Due South, which aired on CBS, CTV and the BBC. Starr starred in 66 episodes through the series’ duration, which was from 1994 to 1999.
Starr’s other TV guest roles included stints on the series NYPD Blue, Doc, Providence and The Dead Zone. Starr also starred in such TV movies as Angels in the Infield, The Thin Blue Line, The Day Reagan Was Shot and Mafia Doctor.
The actor’s film credits included City Heat, Speed, Fletch, Devil in a Blue Dress and Cinderella Man.
Starr’s final screen credit came in a guest role in the TV comedy Psych in 2013.
