Every Cameo In The Devil Wears Prada 2 — And What Didn’t Make The Cut

"The Devil Wears Prada 2" New York Premiere

Twenty years after the original became a cultural touchstone, The Devil Wears Prada 2 has arrived in cinemas with not just its core cast intact but a staggering roster of celebrity cameos spanning fashion, music, sports, and media.

Director David Frankel told Screen Rant that the cameos were a deliberate storytelling choice designed to reinforce the world Miranda Priestly occupies, surrounding her with people who represent the top of their respective fields. Here is every notable appearance in the film, and the ones that were left on the cutting room floor.

The Acting World

The film's most prominent cameo belongs to Lady Gaga, who plays herself performing at a high-profile Runway event during the Milan fashion week sequence. According to People, it was Meryl Streep who made the ask — calling Gaga directly from Islington and simply asking whether she would do it. Gaga said yes on the spot. The scene involves Miranda using the promise of a Runway cover as leverage to secure the performance. Gaga also co-wrote "Runway," a house pop track with Doechii released as a standalone single on April 9 that features in the film's marketing.

Singer and entrepreneur Ciara also appears, turning up at the Met Gala sequence filmed at the Museum of Natural History in New York City.

The Fashion World

Donatella Versace, who recently stepped down as creative director of her family’s fashion house, filmed a scene during production in Milan, per Variety. She appears alongside Emily Blunt’s character in a shared scene.

British supermodel Naomi Campbell appears seated next to Meryl Streep’s Miranda Priestly at the Dolce & Gabbana spring 2026 show, footage captured during actual Milan Fashion Week filming, per Variety. Campbell is part of a large contingent of supermodels in the film, which also includes Heidi Klum — a returnee from the original — as well as Winnie Harlow, Ashley Graham, Karolína Kurková, Wisdom Kaye, Anok Yai, and Amelia Gray.

Beyond Versace and Campbell, the film draws in several more names from the fashion world appearing as themselves. Marc Jacobs, Domenico Dolce, Stefano Gabbana, and Brunello Cucinelli all appear. Dolce and Gabbana’s involvement connects directly to the Milan Fashion Week sequence.

Podcast hosts and Summer House alumni Paige DeSorbo and Hannah Berner also appear in brief moments.

The film’s runway and red carpet scenes are populated by a substantial number of working models appearing as themselves. Other models including, Heidi Klum, Winnie Harlow, Ashley Graham, Karolína Kurková, Wisdom Kaye (about time, honestly), Anok Yai, and Amelia Gray also make appearances.

Anna Wintour

The Condé Nast global content chief’s involvement is the film’s most layered cameo. When Marc Malkin of Variety asked her about a possible appearance at the Vanity Fair Oscar party in March, Wintour offered only: "That’s for you to find out."

On the Back Row podcast, director Frankel said “That felt too meta to us to put her in the movie”. However, she did visit the Milan set, where Frankel filmed what he called a “gag take”, one that went slightly wrong when Wintour moved ahead of her cue, leaving the image out of focus. As Frankel put it, requesting a second take from Anna Wintour simply was not an option. The footage is destined for a streaming bonus feature rather than the theatrical cut.

Her off-camera influence proved more durable anyway. While watching a scene being filmed in the fictional Dior offices, Wintour took issue with the flowers on set — Dior would never accept pink. Writer Aline Brosh McKenna said on the podcast, “I came running out and I was like, ‘Dude, kill the flowers."
The reset happened immediately.

The Athletes

Frankel told Screen Rant that including athletes was a conscious effort to represent the actual social world someone like Miranda would inhabit — his view, per the interview, being that she would want anyone who is the best at what they do at her table. NBA player Karl-Anthony Towns appears at Miranda’s Hamptons party, where he shares a brief exchange with the film lead.

Tina Brown, writing about the shoot on her Substack newsletter, described sitting next to Towns during the long day of filming at what the production called Miranda's Oyster Bay estate. Golfer Rory McIlroy also appears, alongside his wife Erica, at the Met Gala sequence.

The Media World

The sequel’s examination of a struggling magazine industry is reinforced by a cluster of real journalists and media figures appearing as themselves. Per CBR, this group includes New York Magazine contributing editor Kara Swisher, New Yorker staff writer Jia Tolentino, Today co-host Jenna Bush Hager, and Tina Brown — founding editor of Talk magazine and former editor-in-chief of Tatler, the New Yorker and Vanity Fair — who wrote about her own experience on set in her Substack newsletter. Musician and Late Show bandleader Jon Batiste also appears, per CBR.

Chicken Shop Date host Amelia Dimoldenberg makes an appearance in the film. At the London premiere, she told the BBC she had seen the original in a cinema at age 12 and that it had changed her life.

Cameos That Were Cut

Sydney Sweeney's appearance did not survive the edit. The Euphoria star had filmed a scene of roughly three minutes near the beginning of the film, playing herself as a celebrity client being dressed for an event by Emily Blunt's Emily Charlton — now heading Dior's US operations — per Entertainment Weekly. The scene was pulled for structural reasons within that sequence, and the decision was reported as a difficult one for the team. A source told Radar on April 22 that the cut had no connection to recent controversies surrounding Sweeney, per The List. A separate source told In Touch Weekly that Sweeney was unhappy about the decision, per The List.

Conrad Ricamora, who had been cast in a scripted role as Andy's roommate, was also removed after test audiences kept asking why the character existed at all, per Variety. The film redirects that screen time toward Andy's relationship with Tracie Thoms' returning character, which sources told Variety felt truer to the tone of the original. Jessica Chastain was never in the film — rumours of her involvement circulated in July 2025 after she was spotted in New York during principal photography, but she never filmed anything, per Variety.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 is in cinemas now.
