What Happens In Season 2 Of ‘Running Point?’

Throughout season two, Cam schemes behind the scenes to get Isla booted from her position so he can reclaim his role as president of the Waves.

Cam, who’s still an addict, embezzles $2 million from the team and blackmails his brother and CFOCFO Sandy Gordon (Drew Tarver), into helping him cover it up. Cam also forges a false friendship with half-brother Jackie Moreno (Fabrizio Guido), so he can use Jackie’s urine to pass random drug tests as part of his probation.

In episode eight, Cam and Al Fleischman (Ken Marino) manage to get other board members to sell their shares so they can become majority owners, control the board and push Isla out of the company so Cam can be president again.

Jackie comes to the rescue and saves Isla’s job after he secretly records audio of Cam admitting that he’s been using his half-brother’s urine to violate his probation. The Gordons use that evidence to terminate Cam, also squashing his deal with Al.

The Waves make it to the finals, where they face the Boston Pilgrims, the team that Isla despises the most. Coincidentally, the team is coached by Jay Brown (Jay Ellis), the former coach of the Waves who’s in a casual, long-distance relationship with Isla.

Has ‘Running Point’ Been Renewed For Season 3?

In the finale, the Los Angeles Waves beat their rivals in the ABL finals and are crowned the world champions, marking Isla’s first victory as president.

The next morning, Cam and Al announce that they’ve purchased the team called the LA Industry and have big aspirations of making it the best basketball team in LA. Cam also reveals that they’ve hired Jay as their new head coach and part-owner of the LA Industry, completely taking Isla and her siblings by surprise.

Netflix hasn’t officially picked up Running Point for a third season, but there’s plenty of fodder thanks to the personal and professional war Cam has declared on his family after being ousted.

Despite Cam’s drug addiction, he successfully led the Waves to several championships during his presidency, so he knows what it takes to turn a team around and can apply those skills to the LA Industry.

Jay being poached will pose a major threat to the Waves because he knows the ins and outs of their game and can confidently predict their strategies. To make matters even more personal, Isla is likely to feel betrayed by Jay’s decision to team up with Cam after he spent the entire team trying to sabotage his younger sister. Safe to say, their romance will probably hit pause again or end altogether if Running Point returns.
