For many years, Miley Cyrus didn’t like to talk about Hannah Montana, the TV show that propelled her to superstardom when she was a teenager. She spent years filming the series, recording music, and touring the world as her alter ego, but when it was time to try something new, Cyrus looked to jettison her family-friendly image. For several eras, she pushed the boundaries of what was acceptable on TV and on the airwaves, and she developed something of a reputation as pop’s bad girl.

More recently, the singer-songwriter has been looking to change the public’s perception of her, and as part of that revolution, Cyrus revisited Hannah Montana. The superstar took part in a twentieth anniversary televised special, which aired on Disney+ and which celebrated two decades of music. Cyrus didn’t only appear on the program, singing several of Hannah Montana’s most popular cuts, she penned and recorded an original track for the occasion.

“Younger You” – officially titled “Younger You (From the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special)” – debuts on multiple Billboard charts this week, earning the Grammy winner the top start of the frame on one of the most competitive rundowns.

Miley Cyrus’s “Younger You” Debuts on the Song Sales List

“Younger You” launches on half a dozen rankings published by Billboard, but it only manages a top 10 arrival on one of them. The wistful track begins its time on the Digital Song Sales list at No. 4 in its first tracking period. The single sold just under 4,400 copies, according to Luminate.

Miley Cyrus Extends Her Run Inside the Top 10

Cyrus earns her twenty-first top 10 smash on the Digital Song Sales chart as “Younger You” arrives. The new launch is tied with “Can’t Be Tamed,” which served as the first official single from Cyrus’s album of the same name, as they both stalled at No. 4. Altogether, the powerhouse has scored 70 appearances somewhere on the purchase-only roster.

Muna’s “Big Stick” And Tame Impala’s “Dracula” Debut

Three tracks launch on the Digital Song Sales tally this frame, and Cyrus claims one of a pair of top 10 entries. “Big Stick” from pop trio Muna seems to be a breakout smash for the group, as it kicks off its time at No. 10. Meanwhile, “Dracula,” the hugely popular collaboration by Tame Impala and Blackpink star Jennie, finally appears at No. 14.

The list is filled this time around with returning favorites, as last week’s inundation by BTS, which recently returned with a comeback album, Arirang, largely fades. The South Korean septet’s single “Swim” holds at No. 1, but most of the group’s fellow recent bestsellers disappear. That exit makes room for cuts by Olivia Dean, Alex Warren, Bruno Mars, and two from both Taylor Swift and Luke Combs, which all reappear near one another.

“Younger You” Enters Multiple Billboard Radio Rankings

“Younger You” enters the top 40 on three additional rankings in America. The track starts at No. 18 on the Adult Contemporary tally, No. 27 on the Adult Pop Airplay list, and No. 31 on the Pop Airplay chart. Those three rankings are the only official pop registers published by Billboard.

Miley Cyrus’s “Younger You” Debuts on the Hot 100

Cyrus’s latest does not fare quite as well on the only other two Billboard rundowns where it debuts. This frame, “Younger You” is new to the Billboard Hot 100, the list of the most-consumed songs in the U.S., at No. 69.

Meanwhile, it lands at No. 191 on the Billboard Global 200, the company’s ranking of the most-consumed cuts all around the planet. Notably, “Younger You” does not make it to the Billboard Global Excl. U.S., meaning it was much more of a hit in America than outside of the country’s shores.
