2026 Time100 Gala

Jennie of Blackpink fame becomes only the third K-pop solo female musician to crack the Billboard Hot 100's top 10 as "Dracula" flies into the region. K-pop musicians, whether they be soloists or groups, have an easier time cracking the top 10 on the Billboard 200, the company's ranking of the most-consumed albums in America, than the Billboard Hot 100. That latter list focuses on the most-consumed songs, and typically tunes rise into that region, whereas on the albums ranking, it is more common for a highly promoted set to debut inside the top 10.

There have been a much larger number of K-pop artists that have scored top 10 albums in the U.S. than top 10 hits on the most competitive songs roster. When looking specifically at soloists, there are a select few that have produced true smashes in the largest music market in the world.

This week, Jennie, one of the four members of the South Korean girl group Blackpink, joins a roundup of some of the most popular solo female artists from that genre to find their way into the uppermost tier.

Jennie Scores Her First Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100

Alongside Kevin Parker, A.K.A.Tame Impala, Jennie scores her first top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, This week, both musicians find their way into the loftiest tier with "Dracula," which flies from No. 18 to No. 10. The tune was originally only credited to Tame Impala, but once Jennie joined a remixed version, the song became a global smash, and it has been growing in popularity ever since.

Jennie Joins Rosé and Ejae with a Top 10 Smash

Jennie is only the third solo female musician typically associated with K-pop to score a top 10 win on the Billboard Hot 100. The highest-ranking hit by any solo female artist in that space remains "Golden," taken from the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack. The cut is officially credited not only to the girl group Huntr/x, but also singers Ejae, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami. Of that trio, Ejae is largely known for her work in K-pop, while the other two have primarily recorded other forms of music. The four stars – technically there are four musical acts credited on that cut – also hit the top 10 with “How It’s Done.”

Fellow Blackpink musician Rosé became the first solo female from the K-pop genre to break into the Billboard Hot 100 top 10 alongside hitmaker Bruno Mars. The two pushed "Apt." all the way to No. 3 a little more than a year ago.

Psy, Jung Kook and Jimin Also Broke Into the Top 10

When looking at all soloists associated with K-pop, the number of artists that have landed at least one top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 grows, but not dramatically. Jung Kook leads all superstars with a trio of wins to his name. The BTS singer – as well as his bandmate Jimin – are the only solo musicians in K-pop to debut a tune at No. 1. He also reached the region with “3D” alongside Jack Harlow and his own “Standing Next to You.”

Psy made history with his No. 2 win “Gangnam Style,” and he followed it up with a second top five, “Gentleman.” Another pair of wins from KPop Demon Hunters, which are attached to the evil boy band Saja Boys, cracked the top 10 as well, and several members – the group is made up of Andrew Choi, Neckwav, Danny Chung, Kevin Woo and Samuil Lee – are usually classified as K-pop artists.

“Dracula” Lifts to New Peaks on Multiple Charts

"Dracula" currently appears on 19 Billboard charts, and it surges to a new high on five of them. In addition to the Billboard Hot 100, "Dracula" surges to never-before-seen peaks on the Rock & Alternative Airplay (No. 2), Adult Pop Airplay (No. 14), Pop Airplay (No. 18) and Radio Songs charts (No. 23).
