Fashion’s biggest night is here. The Met Gala returns to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City tonight, where A-list celebrities will come together for an evening celebrating the intersection of fashion, art and culture. While the event itself is tightly under wraps, the red carpet will continue to be covered in real time.
The 2026 Met Gala serves as the Costume Institute’s signature fundraiser and celebrates the debut of its spring exhibition, titled “Costume Art.” Led by Costume Institute Curator in Charge Andrew Bolton, the exhibition explores “the centrality of the dressed body in the museum’s vast collection,” pairing garments from the Costume Institute with paintings, sculptures and other works spanning 5,000 years of art, according to Vogue.

As for the dress code, this year’s is “Fashion Is Art,” which ties directly to the exhibition, and guests are encouraged to “consider the many ways that designers use the body as their blank canvas,” the magazine, which organizes the annual event, said.
While the dress code leaves plenty of room for interpretation, Vogue suggested that some attendees and designers could draw cues from artistic periods such as Rococo, Baroque and the Renaissance. The red carpet may also feature looks inspired by iconic paintings, along with creative takes on the “Costume Art” theme.

The 2026 Met Gala red carpet will begin at 6 p.m. ET / 3 p.m. PT, with guests arriving around 4:30 p.m. and continuing until the red carpet wraps at 8 p.m. Some celebrities may still make a fashionably late entrance, even as the red carpet is coming to a close.

The 2026 Met Gala will be broadcast across Vogue’s digital platforms, including the publication’s official YouTube channel, for the sixth consecutive year.
Ashley Graham, La La Anthony, and Cara Delevingne will guide viewers through the standout moments and fashion from the 2026 Met Gala, while Emma Chamberlain returns as the event’s red carpet correspondent.

E! will kick off Met Gala coverage at 6 p.m. ET / 3 p.m PT with Live From E!: Met Gala 2026, airing on E! and Peacock.
Those without cable or Peacock can sign up for a live TV streaming service that carries E!, including DirecTV Stream, Hulu + Live TV, Fubo, YouTube TV and more.
The broadcast will feature a panel of experts, including Justin Sylvester, Keltie Knight, Zanna Roberts Rassi, Ciara Miller, Bronwyn Newport, Renee Montgomery, Chris Appleton, and Christian Siriano. Zuri Hall will also be stationed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art entrance to interview celebrities as they arrive.

This year’s co-chairs are Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman and Venus Williams.
This is Beyoncé’s first Met Gala appearance in a decade since 2016’s “Manus x Machina” gala. Kidman and Williams have been regular attendees over the years, including at last year’s May’s gala, themed “Tailored for You,” which celebrated Black style and the history of dandyism.
