2024 People's Choice Country Awards - Arrivals

Ella Langley's "Choosin' Texas" ties Dan + Shay and Justin Bieber's "10,000 Hours" as the eight-longest-running Hot Country Songs chart No. 1, with 21 weeks ruling already. Yet again, Ella Langley commands the Hot Country Songs chart with her breakout smash "Choosin' Texas." That tune has spent months as the most-consumed country cut in the United States, and it seems unlikely to diminish in popularity anytime soon.

At the same time that her new album Dandelion becomes her first No. 1 on multiple rankings – including the all-important Billboard 200 – Langley’s "Choosin' Texas" earns another stay in the penthouse on the most competitive country roster, making history as it hangs on.

Ella Langley's "Choosin' Texas" Hits 21 Weeks at No. 1

"Choosin' Texas" has now topped the Hot Country Songs chart for 21 weeks. It has spent exactly half a year — 26 frames — somewhere on the 50-spot roster, with only a month of that total run missing from the peak.

Ella Langley Ties Justin Bieber’s Country Record

Now that it counts 21 stays at No. 1 to its credit, "Choosin' Texas" ties with one other track as the eighth-longest-running ruler in the more than half-century-long history of the Hot Country Songs chart. Langley matches "10,000 Hours," the Grammy-winning collaboration between Dan + Shay and Justin Bieber, which ruled for 21 periods between 2019 and 2020.

Ella Langley May Soon Tie Florida Georgia Line

The next few weeks will be quiet, even if "Choosin' Texas" continues to rule the Hot Country Songs chart. The track will have to hang on for nearly another month before it matches the next two longest-running leaders of all time, "Fancy Like" by Walker Hayes and "Cruise" from the beloved duo Florida Georgia Line. Those smashes led the charge for 24 frames apiece.

"Meant to Be," the unlikely win by Bebe Rexha and, again, Florida Georgia Line, continues to rank as the longest-running No. 1 in the Hot Country Songs chart’s tenure, and it may never be matched. That crossover hit spent an incredible 50 weeks — just under an entire year — at No. 1 on the roster.

Here are all of the longest-charting No. 1s on the Hot Country Songs tally.

  • 50 weeks - Bebe Rexha & Florida Georgia Line - “Meant To Be”
  • 45 weeks - Shaboozey - “A Bar Song (Tipsy)”
  • 34 weeks - Sam Hunt - “Body Like a Back Road”
  • 27 weeks - Gabby Barrett - “I Hope”
  • 25 weeks - Morgan Wallen - “Last Night”
  • 24 weeks - Walker Hayes - “Fancy Like”
  • 24 weeks - Florida Georgia Line - “Cruise”
  • 21 weeks - Dan + Shay & Justin Bieber - “10,000 Hours”
  • 21 weeks - Ella Langley - “Choosin’ Texas”

"Choosin’ Texas" Passes "I Remember Everything"

Last frame, when "Choosin' Texas" scored its milestone twentieth turn at No. 1, it matched with two additional champions, both of which credit solo females. Zach Bryan and Kacey Musgraves kept "I Remember Everything" atop the tally for 20 weeks in 2023. Last year, "What I Want" by Morgan Wallen and Canadian pop singer Tate McRae matched that performance.

Langley shared the honor of claiming the third-longest-running No. 1 by any female act on the Hot Country Songs chart, but she no longer has to, as now she stands alone. "What I Want" and "I Remember Everything" have been pushed to fourth place, while "Meant to Be" owns the record. Former American Idol contestant Gabby Barrett’s biggest single, "I Hope," remains in second place with 27 weeks in the spotlight.

Dandelion Fills 17 Spots on the Hot Country Songs Chart

Langley is the queen of the Hot Country Songs chart this week, and not only because "Choosin' Texas" is, once again, the winner. The singer-songwriter fills 17 spaces on the tally, with many of those tracks coming from Dandelion. An even dozen of those tunes launch this frame, while several singles pushed from Dandelion before the set dropped in full continue to climb.

Langley commands half of the top 10 and even keeps herself from scoring a new No. 1. "Choosin' Texas" once again holds fellow Dandelion single "Be Your Hero" at bay. Fellow promotional cuts "Loving Life Again" and "Dandelion" ascend to Nos. 5 and 8, respectively, with the first of those two hitting a new all-time high. "Bottom of Your Boots," the latest focus track from the full-length, debuts at No. 4, with only "Sleepless in a Hotel Room" by Luke Combs breaking up Langley’s streak inside the top five.
