5th Annual Academy Museum Gala - Arrivals

Olivia Rodrigo's "Stupid Song" nearly becomes another No. 1 smash for the singer on the U.K.'s Official Singles chart, but instead, it settles for second place. Olivia Rodrigo easily conquers every albums chart in the United Kingdom this week. The singer-songwriter's third full-length, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, debuts at No. 1 on every roster it was eligible to hit.

At the same time that the album performs well, each track featured on the project also storms onto at least one roster across the Atlantic. Rodrigo nearly scores another champion on the Official Singles chart, which lists the most popular songs in the nation, but she is blocked by another hugely successful solo female superstar.

Olivia Rodrigo Debuts "Stupid Song" at No. 2

"Stupid Song" serves as the third official single taken from You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love. As the full-length debuts at No. 1 on half a dozen U.K.-based tallies, "Stupid Song" misses ruling the Official Singles chart by just one space.

Rodrigo's latest cut arrives at No. 2, trailing only Taylor Swift's "I Knew It, I Knew You." That tune, written and recorded for the animated movie Toy Story 5, became Swift's seventh No. 1 on the Official Singles chart last week, and it holds exactly where it started.

Olivia Rodrigo Scores Her Eleventh Top 10 Smash

Rodrigo has now racked up 11 top 10 smashes on the Official Singles chart. Four of those tunes – "Drivers License," "Good 4 U," "Vampire" and "Drop Dead" – all reached No. 1. "Stupid Song" is the second cut from You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love to miss out on dominating the Official Singles tally by just one space. Second promotional cut "The Cure" also topped out at No. 2, exactly where "Stupid Song" launches this time around.

Taylor Swift Blocks Olivia Rodrigo from No. 1

As "I Knew It, I Knew You" refuses to move from the top space on the Official Singles chart, it becomes only Swift's fourth track to lead the way for more than one week. "I Knew It, I Knew You" is now tied with "Look What You Made Me Do" as the Grammy winner's third-longest-ruling smash in the U.K. "The Fate of Ophelia" and "Anti-Hero" rank as her longest-running champions, with seven and half a dozen frames spent atop the Official Singles roster, respectively.

"Stupid Song" Leads the Streaming Tally

While "Stupid Song" doesn't dominate the Official Singles chart, the third You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love track to be selected as a single does open at No. 1 on one of the four tallies on which it arrives. This frame, Rodrigo scores her fourth ruler on the Official Streaming chart, which is built entirely around plays on platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music. "Stupid Song" follows "Drivers License," "Good 4 U" and "Drop Dead," which introduced Rodrigo's now-released album.

"Stupid Song" also debuts on the Official Singles Downloads and Official Singles Sales charts, though it is nowhere near the No. 1 space. On the downloads-only tally, "Stupid Song" is new at No. 45, and it narrowly fails to enter the highest half of the Official Singles Sales rundown, where it launches at No. 51.

Olivia Rodrigo Scores Only Three Major Hits

The Official Charts Company only allows every lead artist to score three hits at a time on the Official Singles chart. Rodrigo only collects one debut this frame with "Stupid Song." The previous two promotional tracks from You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love also live inside not only the top 10, but the top five. This week, "The Cure" improves from No. 4 to No. 3, while "Drop Dead" leaps from No. 13 to fifth place.

Olivia Rodrigo Charts Every Album Track on the Streaming Tally

While Rodrigo is stopped from scoring multiple smashes on the Official Singles chart due to that limiting rule, all 13 compositions featured on You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love reach the Official Streaming tally. "Stupid Song" leads that charge, and nearly half of all the cuts included on the album rank within the top 10.

Here are all of Olivia Rodrigo's current placements on the Official Streaming chart.

  • No. 1 - "Stupid Song"
  • No. 2 - "The Cure"
  • No. 5 - "Drop Dead"
  • No. 8 - "Honeybee"
  • No. 9 - "My Way"
