Zayn Malik – known mononymously as Zayn – one of the former singers from the globe-dominating boy band One Direction, released his latest album Konnakol this spring. The set debuted high on a number of charts in the United Kingdom, but failed to produce any major hits, and it did not hold on for very long.

Only a few weeks after Konnakol came and went, Zayn is back on the rankings in the U.K. with an older track that has become a sudden hit, not just another tune that places on various rosters. Zayn's latest smash even manages to bring him to a pair of rosters he has never seen before on his own.

Zayn Debuts "Lied To" Years After Its Release

"Lied To" debuts on two rosters in the U.K. this week. The track, which was originally featured on his 2024 album Room Under the Stairs – though it was never pushed as an official single – kicks off its time at No. 11 on the Official Physical Singles chart. The song performs even better on the Official Vinyl Singles tally, where it begins its time at No. 6 after being released on vinyl.

In both cases, Zayn scores his first solo smash on the sales rankings, one of which focuses entirely on purchases of individual tracks on vinyl, while the other is built around purchases of songs on any physical format, with vinyl playing a large role more often than not in where titles land.

Zayn Reached the Vinyl Chart Once With One Direction

As a member of One Direction, Zayn has only reached the Official Vinyl Singles chart once before. More than a decade ago, in October 2015, "Midnight Memories" hit No. 5 and spent a total of 23 frames somewhere on the format-specific rundown.

One Direction Scored Nine Physical Sales Chart Hits

One Direction sold much better when it came to CD singles, as the outfit generated nine smashes on the Official Physical Singles chart. All of those tunes leaped into not only the top 10, but the top two.

The first-half dozen – "What Makes You Beautiful," "Gotta Be You," "One Thing," "Live While We're Young," "One Way or Another (Teenage Kicks)" and "Best Song Ever" – all conquered the roster, and in many cases, for multiple frames. The final three hits that One Direction collected on the Official Physical Singles chart – "Story of My Life," "Midnight Memories" and "Steal My Girl" – all missed out on ruling the roost by just one space, peaking at No. 2.

Zayn Lands the Fourth-Highest Debut This Week

Five songs debut within the top 10 on the Official Vinyl Singles chart this time around. Zayn's "Lied To" is the fourth-highest-ranking entry. Olivia Rodrigo misses out on scoring another leader as "Honeybee" kicks off its time in second place. The Clash launches "Should I Stay or Should I Go" at No. 3, and "Vampire at the Beach" from Luvcat is new at No. 5.

"Lied To" Launches on a Pair of U.K. Charts

"Lied To" is also the fourth-highest-ranking entry on this week's Official Physical Singles chart, even though it fails to find its way into the top 10. The three tunes that beat it as they arrive differ slightly when compared to the vinyl-only roster. Rodrigo's "Honeybee" does claim to be the most exciting new start of the period, as it begins its time at No. 3. "A Crazy Shot in the Dark" from Fizz opens at No. 6, while the aforementioned "Vampire at the Beach" by Luvcat kicks off its time at No. 7.
