Sunday is here and your dear and humble narrator is still sick. I’m sick of being sick and snotty and my throat hurting and having no energy, and I’m determined to complain about it to you fine Strandistarians before moving on to solve today’s NYT Strands puzzle. Complaining helps. I feel better already. Let’s find some words!
Looking for Saturday’s Strands? Check out our guide right here.
Strands is the newest game in the New York Times’ stable of puzzle games. It’s a fun twist on classic word search games. Every day we’re given a new theme and then tasked with uncovering all the words on the grid that fit that theme, including a spangram that spans two sides of the board. One of these words is the spangram which crosses from one side of the grid to another and reveals even more about the day’s theme.
Spoilers ahead.
Read on for today’s theme and some hints to help you uncover today’s words.

I do think this is the first time I’ve seen all the words — except the spangram — start with the same first two letters. These are sound symbolism patterns, or phonesthemes, in which words have, over time, developed with a kind of association. So words that begin with GL often have to do with light or vision (GLITTER or GLANCE or even GLORY) while words that start with SL have to do with smoothness (SLIDE, SLICK, SLIP) and words that start with SN often have to do with the nose (SNEEZE, SNIFF, SNORE, SNOUT) and so forth. Language is fascinating.
