Avengers Doomsday
Marvel
While I understand that in-person showcases of new films and trailers during specific live events is not going away, we are reaching a point where how this process works is getting extremely annoying. Now, it’s happened again with Avengers: Doomsday, where the first information we’re getting about the already-seen trailer is…just that, information. Not the actual trailer.
At CinemaCon yesterday, the first full trailer, not short character spots, was shown for Avengers: Doomsday for audiences at the show. Disney has done it before with different projects, and the result is not to release that trailer immediately to the public. Sometimes it takes literally months, as was the case with Daredevil: Born Again, for instance.
But these attendees are not under NDA either, so what’s allowed to be shared are “trailer descriptions,” which is about the worst first impression of a trailer I can imagine, even more so than blurry leaks (so far, there haven’t been any for this Doomsday trailer, unlike Daredevil).
You can read what happens in the trailer, but you will not be able to watch it for the foreseeable future, even though we’re only eight months ahead of release now, and in addition to this, we just hear hype lines from actors and such about how “there’s nothing like it,” and statements like that. Very annoying.
Do you want to read the description? Sure, fine, here it is, assembled from a bunch of different takes from those who have seen it. Ugh:
There are a few more details somewhere in there, like a new Avengers Tower shown, and the Fantastic Four fighting somewhere in there (we’ve previously heard the X-Men are also fighting them, thanks to a leak from Nightcrawler’s Alan Cumming), so presumably that also happens during the described X-fight.
MORE FOR YOU
Sounds great! I would much rather be watching this than reading about it! But this is the “Con” world we live in, and they want people to keep showing up to those, so it’s worth their while. But it’s always irritating when this happens, and Disney, with its extremely delayed releases, is worse than most.
