In the summer of 2025, British Vogue published an article in which Lady Gaga praised rising hip-hop musician Doechii. In the magazine, the pop and dance superstar praised the talent, saying, “You don’t often see someone come out of the gate with a pen that feels immediately legendary.”
The two have seemingly formed a friendship, and now they have finally worked together on a song together. Gaga and Doechii teamed up to record “Runway,” which is set to be featured on the soundtrack of the upcoming film The Devil Wears Prada 2. After only a few hours of availability, “Runway” becomes an instant top 10 hit on one list, and it’s just getting started.
“Runway” debuts on the Dance Digital Song Sales chart, Billboard’s list of the bestselling tracks in that style on platforms like iTunes. It is the sole tally in America where the collaboration arrives, as “Runway” was available for only a few hours in the most recent completed tracking period, as the two dropped it late in the day on Thursday (April 9). This week, “Runway” opens at No. 10, becoming an immediate top 10 bestseller.
Doechii scores her third hit on the Dance Digital Song Sales chart, and all of her successes are collaborations with other women. She rose highest alongside Blackpink star Jennie, when the two pushed “ExtraL” to No. 3. “Alter Ego,” which includes former City Girls artist JT, peaked at No. 7. “Runway” marks a new low for Doechii on the tally, but the song will almost certainly climb when Billboard refreshes its rankings, after which point the soundtrack cut will have enjoyed a full seven days in which to sell perhaps an even greater number of copies.
MORE FOR YOU
Gaga is, unsurprisingly, far more successful on the Dance Digital Song Sales chart than her companion. This is due to the fact that she has been a superstar for a longer period of time, and also because she has centered her career around dance music, while Doechii is primarily known for her hip-hop output.
“Runway” becomes Gaga’s twenty-fourth top 10 on the roster, and so far her only track to peak at No. 10. She has racked up a total of 52 appearances, and Gaga claims nine No. 1s, a sum increased significantly in 2025 when the Grammy and Oscar winner racked up three new champions. “Abracadabra,” “Vanish Into You,” and “The Dead Dance” – all featured on her latest full-length Mayhem – topped the Dance Digital Song Sales roster for at least one frame apiece.
These are all of Lady Gaga’s top 10 hits on Billboard’s Dance Digital Song Sales chart.
This week, “Runway” is Gaga’s only hit song on the U.S. charts, but she fares better when looking worldwide. Both “Die With a Smile,” with Bruno Mars, and her own “Poker Face” appear on the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. “Die With a Smile” continues to hold inside the top 40, while “Poker Face” sits closer to the bottom of the two tallies. “Poker Face,” one of her earliest smashes, even returns to the Billboard Global 200 at No. 180 after disappearing not long ago.
