Los Angeles Premiere Of Netflix's "Olivia Rodrigo: GUTS World Tour" - Arrivals

Olivia Rodrigo’s Guts surges to No. 2 on Billboard's Top Alternative Albums chart — behind Noah Kahan's Stick Season — as "Drop Dead" launches on several rankings. In mid-April, Olivia Rodrigo officially began the promotional campaign around her forthcoming third album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love. The set was introduced with lead single "Drop Dead," which, to nobody's surprise, becomes a huge hit across a variety of Billboard tallies. It is also less than shocking that both of the singer-songwriter's previous albums, Sour and Guts, climb on charts in the United States, and one of them nearly reaches No. 1 years after its release.

Olivia Rodrigo’s Guts Almost Returns to No. 1

Guts ascends from fifth place to the runner-up spot on the Top Alternative Albums chart, which Billboard publishes every week to show the public which full-lengths and EPs classified under the alternative genre — a decidedly vague term — are the most popular in America. Throughout its one-hundred-and-thirty-seventh frame on the roster, Guts has spent 12 turns ruling.

Olivia Rodrigo’s Guts Blocked by Noah Kahan’s Stick Season

This week, Rodrigo is blocked from the Top Alternative Albums chart summit by Noah Kahan's breakout set Stick Season. That studio effort – one of the most successful in the ranking's history – is up to 41 stays in the penthouse. Kahan will almost certainly replace himself at No. 1 in a few days, as his new project, The Great Divide, is expected to launch in first place on multiple rankings. The singer-songwriter may be headed for his first leader on the all-important Billboard 200.

Live From Glastonbury (A BBC Recording) Briefly Charted

Rodrigo has only placed two projects on the Top Alternative Albums chart, and the one that isn’t Guts is not Sour. Billboard labeled that release under the pop descriptor, so it has never landed on the Top Alternative Albums ranking. Less than six months ago, in December, Live From Glastonbury (A BBC Recording) opened at No. 4 and disappeared as quickly as it arrived.

MORE FOR YOU

Olivia Rodrigo’s Guts and Sour Rise on Multiple Charts

Guts lives on four tallies published by Billboard, and it's a top 10 success on half of them. In addition to the Top Alternative Albums chart, the Grammy-nominated LP pushes from No. 10 to No. 3 on the Top Rock and Alternative Albums list. Just like on the alternative-only rundown, Stick Season is in charge, while Rumours by Fleetwood Mac is steady at No. 2.

Both Guts and Sour Climb on the Billboard 200

Sour and Guts do manage to occupy spots on the same two American rankings, and they are both on the rise. Guts pushes from No. 52 to No. 32 on the Billboard 200, while Sour jumps 12 spaces and lands just four slots behind its successor.

At the same time, the releases reappear on the Top Streaming Albums chart. This week, Guts is the higher-rising of the two, as it reenters that streaming-only tally at No. 34, while Sour finds its way to No. 35.

Olivia Rodrigo’s "Drop Dead" Debuts at No. 1

While both of her albums perform well this week, the focus for Rodrigo's fans is obviously on the newly-shared "Drop Dead." That track debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, Streaming Songs, Digital Song Sales charts, and the Billboard Global 200. It marks her fourth leader on all but the list of the bestselling tunes in the country, where the Grammy winner doubles her rulers. "Drop Dead" also arrives on a quartet of radio rankings, becoming an instant top 40 smash on each and every one of them.
