Members of BIGBANG take a bow at Coachella Weekend 2

Being one of the biggest musical festivals on the calendar means Coachella has seen its fair share of huge announcements. K-Pop veterans BIGBANG clearly agreed, taking their long-awaited Coachella debut to announce that their 20th anniversary world tour will be starting in August of this year.

The announcement came from G-Dragon towards the end of BIGBANG’s weekend two set on the Outdoor Theatre stage, the same stage where, a week earlier, the trio had delivered what many called the most talked-about non-headliner performance of the festival.

“This is not just a comeback, it’s a reset,” Daesung had said earlier, while G-Dragon implored audiences “do not, do NOT miss out”.

The global tour itself was announced last month, but this was the first confirmation of start dates.

What Happened On Stage During Weekend Two

The weekend two set was, with only one exception, the same as their blistering debut, although there were definite changes in lighting and a couple of arrangements.

The show opened only three minutes behind schedule with their intro video, before launching into "Bang Bang Bang" with a full rock intro, complete with flags, light sticks, and a massive crowd despite the set overlapping at points with both headliner Karol G and Kaskade.

The group moved through a medley of "Bang Bang Bang," "Fantastic Baby," and "Sober," with the crowd singing back the closing refrain a cappella at the end. Daesung addressed the audience between songs, telling them he had been missing them all week.

A band interlude featuring The Band Six preceded the solo segments.

Taeyang’s section (with unfortunately no sign of “Eyes Nose Lips”) included an extended crowd interaction, asking the audience to riff with him, before a full outfit change led into "Ringa Linga" — which ended, predictably, with a shirtless Taeyang. G-Dragon followed in another furry hat for “Power” in his solo segment, before the two reunited for "Good Boy."

Daesung took his own spotlight with trot songs "Hando Chogua" and "Where Are You Gwisun," pausing to ask the Coachella crowd whether they had managed to find those songs during the week (he was very surprised during the first weekend that the crowd knew "Hando Chogua at all). The emotional centre of the set came with "A Fool For Tears," "Loser," "Haru Haru," and “Lies”, with the VIP lightstick yellow punctuating the outdoor stage throughout. "Bae Bae" swapped out “Bad Boy” from last weekend’s setlist.

After G-Dragon and Taeyang confirmed BIGSHOW: REBORN to the crowd — with a specific thank you directed at Korean fans — the set closed with "Still Life." G-Dragon’s final words to the crowd: "We’re back, motherf–."

Why This Coachella Slot Was Special for BIGBANG

This performance made up for a canceled 2020 Coachella set, with G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Daesung returning to the desert six years later than originally planned. 2026 marks the group’s 20th anniversary, and their Coachella debut — after a decade-plus absence from full group performances — carried the weight of a reset rather than a one-off.

What Is BIGSHOW: REBORN?

Per News18, their tour is tentatively titled BIGSHOW: REBORN, with dates expected across Asia, Europe, and North America from August 2026. Historically, BIGSHOW was BIGBANG’s annual concert series, usually kickstarting their new year and tour cycles. Further dates are expected to be confirmed in the coming weeks via YG Entertainment.

The group has not toured as a full unit since their 2017 Last Dance run, so the scale of the announcement, made in front of thousands of people at the world’s most-watched music festival, suggests BIGBANG have no intention of treating this as simply a nostalgic footnote.
