Paramore Marks A Return To The Charts After Missing No. 1 Last Week

The United Kingdom’s Official Rock and Metal Albums chart only features 40 spaces, but more often than not, there are a handful of acts that fill multiple rungs at the same time. The tally focuses on the bestselling EPs and full-lengths that can be classified using phrases like rock, hard rock, and metal, though which groups and singers fit perfectly under those labels seems to be up for interpretation by the Official Charts Company.

Last week, the tally was packed with Record Store Day-related offerings, many of which have disappeared. This time around, a number of popular projects surge back onto the list, with a handful of artists seeing multiple collections rebound.

Paramore is one such top seller. Two of the Grammy-winning band’s albums reappear, while one which benefited immensely from Record Store Day vanishes after almost commanding the ranking.

Paramore’s Brand New Eyes and Riot Return

Two Paramore classics, Brand New Eyes and Riot, find their way back to the Official Rock and Metal Albums chart this week. The first of those two reenters at No. 29, while Riot lands in second-to-last place, and 10 spaces beneath Brand New Eyes, as it reenters at No. 39.

MORE FOR YOU

Paramore’s Riot And Brand New Eyes Both Reached No. 1

Since first appearing on the Official Rock and Metal Albums chart nearly 20 years ago, when All We Know Is Falling launched in October 2006, Paramore has racked up five appearances, and all of them have spent time within the top 10. Riot, Brand New Eyes, and the group’s self-titled effort have reached No. 1, managing multiple turns at the summit.

Riot Remains Paramore’s Longest-Charting Album

It’s worth pointing out that Riot and Brand New Eyes also stand out as Paramore’s longest-running successes on the Official Rock and Metal Albums chart. As of this period, Riot is up to 357 weeks on the list, while Brand New Eyes has accrued 213 stays. All We Know Is Falling has appeared on the tally 142 times, and no other collections have cracked that triple-digit milestone.

Paramore’s All We Know Is Falling Almost Hit No. 1

Last week, Paramore nearly scored yet another champion on the Official Rock and Metal Albums chart, but the band was forced to settle for second place. All We Know Is Falling returned to the list at No. 2 after being reissued for Record Store Day. Only You Got This by U.K. band Skindred beat the pop-punk outfit to the top spot, as that title opened at No. 1 during an especially busy period. Somewhat shockingly, All We Know Is Falling has fallen off the Official Rock and Metal Albums tally completely after nearly dominating only a few days ago.

Nirvana And Pink Floyd Lead the Rock Albums Chart

With two titles on the Official Rock and Metal Albums chart this week, Paramore is tied with several other acts for the fourth-most hits. At the moment, Paramore is on the same level as Green Day and My Chemical Romance. Both Nirvana and Linkin Park appear in a trio of slots, while Pink Floyd scores an incredible five rocking top performers.

Pink Floyd nearly reconquers the Official Rock and Metal Albums chart with Live From The Los Angeles Sports Arena. Another Record Store Day project, that live set opened at No. 6 last frame, and now that the tally is not nearly as busy as it was, it surges all the way to No. 2. Only Your Favorite Toy, the latest full-length by Foo Fighters, beats it to the throne as that group collects yet another ruler.

“Still Into You” And “Ain’t It Fun” Continue Charting

Paramore fills just as many slots on the Official Rock and Metal Singles chart as on the Official Rock and Metal Albums ranking, although neither of the band’s two popular songs at the moment return. “Still Into You” dips one slot to No. 16, while “Ain’t It Fun” holds in last place at No. 40.
