Thrash, a shark thriller starring Phoebe Dynevor, Whitney Peak and Djimon Honsou, is a big hit on Netflix. Why does Dynevor, who plays the lead character Lisa, look so familiar?
Written and directed by Tommy Wirkola, Thrash premiered on Netflix on Friday. In Thrash, Hurricane Henry bears down on the South Carolina coastal town of Annieville. As the catastrophic Category 5 hurricane surges and floodwaters from the Atlantic breach the town’s levees, it not only destroys Annieville’s structures but also opens a gateway for hungry bull sharks to swim in and prey on the people who did not evacuate the area.

Trapped in her car in the flooded streets is Lisa, who is nine months pregnant. With the blood floating in the water after the hurricane destroys a nearby meat truck, Lisa must convince Dakota (Peak), an agoraphobic teen, to leave her house to save her before the deadly sharks arrive. Hounsou (Rebel Moon) plays Dale Edwards, a marine biologist who is Dakota’s uncle.
Thrash debuted at No. 1 on Netflix’s weekly Top 10 Global Movies chart on Tuesday, as the horror-survival thriller in its first three days had 37.7 million views, which equates to 54 million viewing hours.
Born Phoebe Harriet Dynevor in Manchester, England, on April 17, 1995, Dynevor’s screen debut came in 2009 on the BBC teen drama Waterloo Road, where she played Siobhan Mailey for 20 episodes in Season 5 through 2010.
