Olivia Rodrigo's new single "Drop Dead" launches at No. 1 on multiple charts in the U.K., but Taylor Swift blocks her from the summit on one tally with "Elizabeth Taylor." Olivia Rodrigo's new single "Drop Dead" was expected to do big things on the charts, and that prediction has come true. This summer, the Grammy-winning singer will release her third album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love and just like her previous two projects, the first song shared from the collection becomes an immediate champion.

"Drop Dead" debuts on multiple charts in the United Kingdom, and it leads several lists upon its arrival. Rodrigo's latest composition performs so well thanks to a huge opening frame sales, though even she wasn't able to best the biggest star in music at the moment when it comes to one roster.

Olivia Rodrigo’s "Drop Dead" Starts Behind Taylor Swift

"Drop Dead" opens in second place on the Official Singles Sales chart, which details the 100 bestselling songs of any style in the U.K. During almost any other tracking period, the first single from a forthcoming Rodrigo album would have no trouble leading the charge, but this frame was simply too competitive, as "Drop Dead" appeared just as Record Store Day was about to begin.

Taylor Swift released her current single, "Elizabeth Taylor," the third cut pushed from her album The Life of a Showgirl, on seven-inch vinyl for the music industry event. As is always the case whenever she delivers a new physical product, it becomes a bestseller.

MORE FOR YOU

"Elizabeth Taylor" debuts at No. 1 on both the Official Physical Singles and Official Vinyl Singles charts, and at the same time, it reenters the Official Single Sales rundown at No. 1. Swift collects her sixth champion on the main sales roster as she blocks Rodrigo from one more leader.

Olivia Rodrigo’s "Drop Dead" Nearly Joins Her No. 1 Collection

Of the 17 songs Rodrigo has sent to the Official Single Sales chart, nine have cracked the top 10. Three of those, including "Drivers License," "Vampire," and her cover of Noah Kahan’s "Stick Season," reached the peak position. "Drop Dead" is Rodrigo's first cut to miss out on ruling by just one spot, but it could advance again in the coming weeks after all the excitement around the vinyl release of "Elizabeth Taylor" dies down.

Olivia Rodrigo’s "Drop Dead" Dominates Multiple Charts

While "Drop Dead" may miss ruling the Official Single Sales chart, the song does dominate three of the half dozen rankings on which it debuts this frame. Rodrigo scores another winner on the Official Singles Downloads, Official Streaming, and Official Singles lists.

“Drivers License,” “Good 4 U” and “Vampire” All Hit No. 1

Interestingly, Rodrigo claims a different number of leaders on all three of those rosters. The singer-songwriter doubles her count on the Official Singles Downloads chart, where only "Drivers License," her first hit, topped the tally.

On the Official Streaming chart, Rodrigo is now up to a trio of chart-toppers. She’s ruled with "Drivers License," "Good 4 U," and now "Drop Dead," which all took turns in the penthouse.

On the Official Singles chart, the main ranking of the most consumed cuts – where both streams and sales are important – Rodrigo is up to a quartet of champions. Both "Drivers License" and "Good 4 U," two of the biggest hits from her debut album Sour, spent more than a month on top. When Rodrigo returned with "Vampire," the first taste of her sophomore full-length Guts, that too soared all the way to the summit, where it managed one stay. Now "Drop Dead" increases her total again.

"Drop Dead" Becomes a Top 10 Vinyl Bestseller

While it doesn't manage to command either the Official Physical Singles or Official Vinyl Singles charts, "Drop Dead" does become a fast top 10 bestseller on the physical-only rundown. The cut opens at No. 4, while on the Official Vinyl Singles tally, which is currently very busy due to an influx of Record Store Day releases, "Drop Dead" enters at No. 9. On both of those charts, every single track by Rodrigo has lifted into the top 10.
