Olivia Rodrigo is back with not just a new single, and not only the first taste of a forthcoming album, but another worldwide smash. “Drop Dead” previews her upcoming third full-length, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, which is set to drop on June 12, and fans of the singer were clearly thrilled with the small shift in sonic direction.

“Drop Dead” immediately debuts at No. 1 on multiple Billboard charts, just like the first cuts from her past two albums. Rodrigo is once again in charge of the Billboard Global 200, which ranks the most-consumed songs all around the world. As she scores another champion, the Grammy winner moves up on the list of the most successful artists of all time on the tally and ties with another pop icon.

Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drop Dead” Debuts at No. 1

“Drop Dead” launches atop the Billboard Global 200, and it marks Rodrigo’s fourth No. 1. She previously ran the show with “Drivers License,” “Good 4 U,” and “Vampire.”

Olivia Rodrigo Ties Ariana Grande With Another No. 1

With four No. 1s on the Billboard Global 200 to her credit, Rodrigo is now matched with Ariana Grande, and the two jointly claim the fourth-most leaders since the ranking’s introduction in 2020. Grande has commanded the tally with her own smashes, including “Positions,” “Yes, And?” and “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love).” Grande also joined The Weeknd atop the Billboard Global 200 in 2021, when the “Save Your Tears” remix surged all the way to the summit.

Olivia Rodrigo Passes Drake, Jung Kook and Blackpink

As Rodrigo forms a tie with Grande, she breaks out of a match with several other superstars. Drake, Jung Kook, Bruno Mars, and Blackpink have all racked up three leaders on the Billboard Global 200.

BTS, Taylor Swift and Bad Bunny Lead Again

While Rodrigo and Grande may claim the fourth-most No. 1s in the more than half-decade-long history of the Billboard Global 200, they both pale in comparison to the act with the greatest number of leaders. BTS recently upped its count to eight – as many as both Rodrigo and Grande combined – when the group’s “Swim” hit No. 1 earlier this year.

Taylor Swift sits in second place with half a dozen No. 1s. Bad Bunny separates that singer-songwriter from both Rodrigo and Grande with five winners.

“Drop Dead” Earns Its First Week at No. 1

So far, “Drop Dead” marks Rodrigo’s only one-week No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200, though, of course, that could change as it spends more time on the chart. “Vampire” lived in the penthouse for two frames, “Good 4 U” held on for half a dozen, and “Drivers License” commanded the register for eight periods – nearly two months.

“Drop Dead” Misses the Billboard Global Excl. U.S.’s No. 1

“Drop Dead” misses No. 1 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S., the list of the most popular songs around the world with streams and sales from American listeners completely removed. On that roster, the pop-rock musician has only accrued a pair of No. 1s, as both “Drivers License” and “Vampire” ran the show. “Good 4 U” stalled in second place, and “Drop Dead” arrives at No. 3. Justin Bieber and Nicki Minaj earn an unlikely champion as “Beauty and a Beat” pushes to the summit more than a decade after its release.

Olivia Rodrigo’s Global Top 10 Totals Grow

Rodrigo is up to half a dozen top 10s on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S., and she’s proved slightly more successful on the Billboard Global 200. On that even busier tally, “Drop Dead” marks her ninth visit to the highest tier.

Olivia Rodrigo’s Latest Debuts on Several Billboard Charts

“Drop Dead” debuts on nine Billboard lists this week, and it launches within the top 10 on five of them. In addition to the Billboard Global 200, “Drop Dead” leads the Billboard Hot 100, as well as the Streaming Songs and Digital Song Sales charts.
