We’ve seen some key injuries across baseball recently. Most notably, Jose Ramirez (hand) is expected miss 5-to-7 weeks after undergoing surgery. As we look for replacements, there are some players on the waiver wire who can provide a boost. Let’s look towards Week 14 and highlight five players to consider adding who are still available in the majority of Yahoo leagues.

Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Targets For Week 14

Gregory Soto, RP, Pittsburgh Pirates (47% rostered)

It’s surprising that Soto isn’t rostered in more than half of leagues. He has 11 saves this season for an improved Pirates team. His 3.16 ERA is supported by a 2.91 xERA, and he also has a sparkling 0.96 WHIP. Even his 29.6% strikeout rate is a significant asset for fantasy managers. He’s locked into his role and should receive ample save opportunities moving forward. Add him now if you still can.

Bryce Eldridge, 1B, San Francisco Giants (46% rostered)

A top prospect within the Giants’ farm system, Eldridge struggled during his first taste of the majors last year. He only hit .107 with a .476 OPS over 10 games. He began this year at Triple-A, but hit so well there that he earned himself another opportunity in the majors. This time around, he is batting .319 with six home runs and a .963 OPS over 33 games. A big improvement has been him lowering his strikeout rate to 19.8%. The Giants are desperate for productive hitters in their lineup, so Eldridge has likely secured his spot in the majors for the foreseeable future.

Paul Goldschmidt, 1B, New York Yankees (35% rostered)

The Yankees continue to play without Aaron Judge (ribs) and Giancarlo Stanton (calf). Stanton appeared to be nearing a return, but he recently reinjured his calf. With him out, the Yankees have frequently deployed Ben Rice at DH, opening first base for Goldschmidt. Goldschmidt has also served as the DH on days when Rice plays first base. The veteran has become one of the team’s most important hitters, going 29-for-82 (.354) with six home runs and 22 RBI over his last 19 games. Stanton likely won’t be back anytime soon, so Goldschmidt should receive ample playing time.

Sam Antonacci, 2B/3B/OF, Chicago White Sox (24% rostered)

There is no replacing Ramirez in fantasy. His batting average is down this season, but he still has 10 home runs and 24 stolen bases. His steals might be harder to replace, which is where Antonacci comes into the picture. He plays the outfield for the White Sox, but he is also eligible at second base and third base on Yahoo. He stole 48 bases in the minors last season and has registered nine steals over 55 games with the White Sox this year. While he doesn’t bring much power to the plate, he is batting .281 with a .353 wOBA. He is someone to consider adding if you lost Ramirez on your roster.

Jake McCarthy, OF, Colorado Rockies (11% rostered)

McCarthy recently missed some time with an illness. Across three games since making his return, he went 5-for-13 with two runs scored. In what has been a resurgent season for him, he has a .375 wOBA and a .224 ISO at Coors Field. The Rockies will play 13 of their next 16 games at home, making this a great stretch to deploy McCarthy in 12-team and deeper leagues.

Takeaway

Antonacci is someone to consider adding in fantasy as a replacement for the injured Ramirez. Eldridge, Goldschmidt, and McCarthy are three other hitters who can also make an impact. For those who need saves, Soto should be strongly considered. Be sure to check back throughout the season as we provide the top waiver wire options to help you win your fantasy baseball league.
