Last month, Luke Combs settled for second place on the Billboard 200 with his latest album, The Way I Am. The set performed very well during its first tracking frame, but the country singer was up against BTS’s comeback project Arirang, which outpaced every other title by a massive margin.
Combs might not have earned another No. 1 on the list of the most successful albums in America, but just a few weeks later, he joins some of the biggest stars in country music history by reaching a rarely-seen milestone.
A lucky 13 weeks into its time on the Country Airplay chart, “Sleepless in a Hotel Room,” the third and most recent official single from The Way I Am, rises to No. 1. The cut sat at No. 3 last frame, and now it is the most popular piece of music at country radio stations across the nation.
Combs collects his landmark twentieth No. 1 on the Country Airplay chart as “Sleepless in a Hotel Room” soars. He ties Brad Paisley, Brooks & Dunn, Morgan Wallen, and Toby Keith for the tenth-most leaders of all time.
Here are all of the No. 1 hits Luke Combs has racked up on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart.

Among all artists, Kenny Chesney continues to lead the pack with an incredible 33 No. 1 smashes. Blake Shelton became only the second artist to accrue 30 rulers on the list not long ago. In between those two titans and Combs and his compatriots are Tim McGraw (29), Alan Jackson, George Strait, Jason Aldean, and Luke Bryan with 26 apiece. Thomas Rhett and Keith Urban sit one No. 1 ahead of Combs, Paisley, Wallen, and the beloved pairing of Brooks & Dunn.
Throughout his career, Combs has sent 35 tracks to the Country Airplay chart. 26 of those have reached the top 10, and all but half a dozen have made their way to No. 1. Amazingly, half of all of Combs’s top 10s that didn’t climb all the way to the summit – including “Different Round Here” with Riley Green, “Backup Plan” with Bailey Zimmerman, and “The Kind of Love We Make” – only failed to rule by a single spot.
Combs fills three spaces on the Country Airplay chart this week, and all of his hits reach new highs during this exciting period. As “Sleepless in a Hotel Room” dominates, “Days Like These” ascends to a newly-set peak of No. 6. At the same time, “Be by You,” a promotional track originally shared in February before his album dropped, lifts to No. 48, entering the top 50 on Billboard’s longest-running radio tally.
