Rudy Giuliani, the former New York mayor and lawyer to President Donald Trump, is hospitalized in “critical but stable” condition, his spokesperson said in an updated statement Monday, revealing the ex-attorney was hospitalized for pneumonia and was previously on a ventilator.

Giuliani’s spokesperson Ted Goodman said late Monday morning that Giuliani remains in “critical but stable condition,” after first reporting the former mayor’s hospitalization in Florida on Sunday evening.
Giuliani, 81, was hospitalized for pneumonia, Goodman said, and due to the former mayor having “restrictive airway disease” as a result of his efforts on Sept. 11, the virus “quickly overwhelmed his body” and required “mechanical ventilation to maintain adequate oxygen and stabilize his condition.”
The former mayor is now breathing on his own, according to Goodman, who went on to describe Giuliani as the “ultimate fighter.”
The latest episode of Giuliani’s online talk show “America’s Mayor Live” aired on Friday, and he opened the show by saying his voice was “a little under the weather.”
Giuliani was seen coughing multiple times and told his viewers he won’t be able to speak “as loudly as I usually do.”
In a Truth Social post, Trump wrote: “Our fabulous Rudy Giuliani, a True Warrior, and the Best Mayor in the History of New York City, BY FAR, has been hospitalized, and is in critical condition.” The president then used the post to attack Democrats and restate his false claims about the 2020 elections being stolen. “What a tragedy that he was treated so badly by the Radical Left Lunatics, Democrats ALL — AND HE WAS RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING! They cheated on the Elections, fabricated hundreds of stories, did anything possible to destroy our Nation, and now, look at Rudy. So sad! ”
In early September last year, Giuliani was hospitalized after being involved in a car accident in Manchester, New Hampshire. The former mayor suffered a fractured vertebra after his vehicle was rear-ended on Interstate 93. The driver of the other vehicle was identified as a 19-year-old woman who suffered “non-life-threatening injuries.” A few weeks after the accident, Giuliani appeared in public during a September 11 memorial service in New York City, wearing a brace. Two days after his accident, Trump announced he would be awarding the Presidential Medal of Freedom to the former New York mayor. In the announcement, Trump described Giuliani as “the greatest Mayor in the history of New York City, and an equally great American Patriot.”
