In the span of only about a decade, Twenty One Pilots went from underground favorites building a fan base all around the world to certified rock superstars. The group broke out in a major way with its fourth album – and second on a record label – Blurryface, which produced career-making smashes like “Stressed Out” and “Ride.” Since then, the duo has not faltered, and the band is one of the most successful when it comes to a number of Billboard rock and alternative charts.
The Grammy winners score a new No. 1 on one list in the United States, and with another champion, Twenty One Pilots advance again on an all-time ranking, tying another one of the most beloved rock acts of the past quarter century.
Twenty One Pilots dance from No. 3 to No. 1 on this week’s Alternative Airplay chart. “Drag Path” shoots to the summit on Billboard’s ranking of the most successful songs on all radio stations throughout the United States that focus on alternative music.
“Drag Path” was once a limited-time release, though after it went viral on TikTok, the group added it to a slightly extended version of the album Breach and pushed it as an official single. Now it has become yet another leader for the pair.
Twenty One Pilots have now racked up a total of 14 No. 1s on the Alternative Airplay chart. “Stressed Out” marked the band’s first leader way back in November 2015, and it is also one of only three – including both “Heathens” and “Level of Concern” – to rule for 10 or more frames.
“Drag Path” earns Twenty One Pilots its first leader on the Alternative Airplay chart in 2026, though it hasn’t been long since the band last controlled the rundown. 2025 turned out to be one of the group’s most lucrative on the tally, as three singles – “The Line,” “The Contract,” and “City Walls” – all made it to the top spot within only a few months of one another.
Here are all of the No. 1 songs by Twenty One Pilots on the Alternative Airplay chart.
With a fourteenth champion to their credit, Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun match Linkin Park for the second-most No. 1s of all time on the Alternative Airplay chart. Only one act, Red Hot Chili Peppers, claims more, and that group isn’t winning by much. Red Hot Chili Peppers have thus far scored 15 leaders – just one more than both Linkin Park and Twenty One Pilots – and that record could be matched at any point in the coming years.

Last week, before “Drag Path” dominated, Twenty One Pilots sat alongside two other groups, and all three owned the third-most winners ever. Now, Cage the Elephant and Green Day, which are steady with their lucky 13 No. 1s, jointly claim the fourth-most rulers.
Twenty One Pilots have seen 24 songs land somewhere on the Alternative Airplay chart. 21 of those cuts have broken into the top 10, and for those that have never managed to run the show, there’s a bit of an odd coincidence. Two singles – “Holding On to You” and “House of Gold” – peaked at No. 10. The duo’s five other top 10s (but not No. 1s) all missed out on running the show by just one space. That roundup includes “Tear in My Heart,” “My Blood,” “Heavydirtysoul,” “The Craving,” and “Overcompensate.”
